Peoples are self-defined associations. They are generally glued together by accidents of history or shared tradition. They can consist of national, racial, cultural, religious or philosophical considerations. In the case of Jews all of those constraints may be present. A People is essentially a karass writ large- or sometimes simply a granfalloon. (apologies to Vonnegut.)
