It wasn't until the other night, when I was watching the series: Ufo Hunters, that I first heard of this place - ZONE OF SILENCE.

Not to be affiliated with the old tv show 'Get Smart' and the 'Cone of Silence'. However, the two are never the less synonymous with the idea that once inside this 'zone', the only thing one can hear is one's own voice, and the sound of rustling leaves in the wind.

Apparently, this is a major hotspot of sorts for ufo buffs, as well as the fact that radio waves don't work in the conventional sense.

There was another site I visited that went on to say that the latitude line is in direct correlation (round abouts?) the same as the Bermuda Triangle.

Now some of you might say, "Whoop dee do" , but I thought it kinda neat to throw that one in there too :D Whatever.

There exist a number of "accursed sites" on the surface of our planet. Some
of these locations are the sites of gravitational or atmospheric disturbances
that still remain unexplained by twentieth century science. Such anomalous areas
possess properties which interfere sporadically with humans and their equipment.
One area worthy of mention surrounds the Mediterranean island of Elba (famous for
being Napoleon's first place of exile), and is the bane of maritime aviation in
the Mediterranean; another spot is Mt. Stredohori in Czechoslovakia, where an
unknown force drains car engines of power throughout the length of a 75-foot
stretch of road.

However, we need not travel so far to encounter a part of the world that
is even more perplexing than these others, although it remains little known to
most people: Mexico's mysterious, magical zona del silencio--the Zone of Silence,
just four hundred miles away from El Paso, Texas. Deserts are often considered
to be mysterious enough without the added weirdness that this patch of earth some
four hundred miles from El Paso has to offer. It is a place which gobbles up
radio and TV signals, and which has of late been associated with the UFO
phenomenon.

Have any of you ever visited this area, and if so, was there anything paranormal worth mentioning?

You're welcome :D

I took it for granted that anyone in the U.S. might have already heard about this - 'just because you live there' deal. But there's probably a LOT of stuff in my country as well that I've never heard of too :p

Big countries we live in.

I've been watching the 'Ufo Hunters' series since it came out, not too long ago. Pretty much staying away from all the other shit out there except for docs, history channel, sci fi, and a few others.

The unfortunate part of watching (some) of the U.S. channels, is that what we Canucks call *NEW* or just starting up programs/series, has been airing/aired in the States for a bit of time. Why can't the networks get together and air it all at the same time? :p Well...that's another subject altogether.

But back to das subject...

You know the old saying, "If I won the lottery...", well this Zone of Silence is on my visiting list as well.

If I were to research something like this, and given the time/money/resources etc, I'd want to:

* Scope out a 'perimeter' of where radio waves would work and not. Start at a 'center point' and move outwards.

* Check the meteorology charts for the area. Magnetic rocks? Other?

* Enlist scouts/guides who are familiar with the area.

* Obtain witness testimonies

* Look into previous folk lore
