View Full Version : New Story in the making

Was thinking about writing a short story that would entail:
1. Nasa hiding info about a near future solar storm heading to earth, and/or an approaching object coming from outer space into our inner solar system; causing the temperatures to rise as well as scorching the earth.
2. Incorporating the idea that BP (inconjuction with 'others') to deliberately rupture the sea bed in the Gulf area and abroad; as to cause disruptions in Gulf stream and others around the world. Slowing these streams to a dead halt; in order to bring about an 'ice age affect' as seen in the movie: The Day After Tomorrow.
3. What would seem as a deliberate attempt to annihilate most of the world's population is actually a last ditch effort on the government's part, to save the world from being totally baked by the oncoming onslaught of celestial activities.
Questions I asked myself:
1. Would extreme colder climates really have an edge against the torrential heat?
2. What is more plausible...
a) World governments 'actually' caring for their citizens; thus creating this type of scenario.
b) World governments preparing for their own safety and leaving the rest of humanity to their own demise, while the l33t live comfortably in their underground air-conditioned bunkers'.
I'm definitely leaning towards b. But this wouldn't work with my story above now...would it? Nope.
Then again...who cares? It's just a story anyways :D
Suggestions?

I could see the global elite hollowing out a huge mountain then doing absolutely nothing with it under the guise of political posturing (see Yucca Mountain) so that they could build a huge underground club med.

12 jurors + one judge = 13 total.

Let's say they actually do care, how will they save nearly 7 billion people? They'd have to be choosey, I think.

Two different thoughts there my friend.
How will they save ALL 7 billion OR....of the 7 billion, who do they save?
Bound to be casualties either way.
IF an earnest effort is put forward to the masses from the guv, then the higher ups would send out a warning. HOWEVER, with that will come the backlash. In this, I mean there will be panic.
Probably no getting around that one. Ergo things will be done in secret. (But don't people deserve to KNOW?)
So....the obvious choice is the 2nd one I mentioned.
"Of the close to 7 billion people on this planet, WHO would they choose?"
If I continue with the plot that says the 'government cares' option, then HOW would we fold into the mix to allow 7 billion people a chance to survive without a complete breakdown in societal structures?
Anachy WOULD ensue. That's a given.

That's an easy one... Go back in time to the "Bottleneck" period... Mankind is rumored to have been reduced to a mere 30,000+/- people. Since only the strong survived and now we thrive we will need to be tested to weed out the weak. Look around right now... because I see it going on all around me, the selection process has begun. The "Super Highway" being built right down the middle of the country from Mexico to Canada??? There's another purpose to that fucker.
If you look closely, with an eye towards CT, you can put the pieces of the puzzle together... one piece at a time.

May I add the premises of keeping the flock down to a neat and orderly number to which our 'current' shepherds would be comfortable ruling over after all's been said and done?
The selection process is going on all the time. Might even up to the 'last minute' before all hell breaks loose.

Can't help but think of the Georgia guidestones:
1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2. Guide reproduction wisely - improving fitness and diversity.
3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
4. Rule passion - faith - tradition - and all things with tempered reason.
5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
9. Prize truth - beauty - love - seeking harmony with the infinite.
10. Be not a cancer on the earth - Leave room for nature - Leave room for nature.[4]

Looking at option A or B, how would governments compartmentalise the info for security?
At what point would someone get the whole picture?
What actions would be needed to prevent leaks?
How would governments mobilise a workforce to build whatever you deem would be needed to survive such a holocaust?
I dont believe this could be kept secret for any length of time, so yes I believe anarchy is inevitable.

I remember the internet conspiracy theory world really caught steam in about '04..... and I can't help but wonder how long some wish to remain in that kiddy pool before confronting some very deep, very troubling questions about themselves. Conspiracy theory is just the outer outer veil of secrets which protect themselves. A time of confused stabbing in the dark... but a time meant to be grown out of.... onto more concrete experience of mystery.
Afraid of something? Feeling troubled, perhaps IN trouble? Desperate enough to ask why, but queasy enough to shut your ears when the response is lightning and thunder and you?
Nobody is ignorant by accident.

Maybe the true internet conspiracy theory world occurred in the times of Mosaic and Usenet and died with websites like AnalWarTS in 1999. :(
