with all this talk of the oil spill i thought i would share this

i went to oshkosh last year with my family. while i was there i saw the Yuneec E430, a side by side composite construction craft. yeah it is made by a chinese company but it is completely electric. it has a brushless electric 40kW motor which puts it at the same power as a 50 hp engine. it uses 3 lithium-ion polymer batteries but i think you can get a 5 pack. it will run for 1.5 to 2 hours as built but with the ad ons you can get 3 hours worth of flying time before you recharge. this puts the plane running at a cost of less than a tenth of what regular planes run at.

the other cool thing about oshkosh this year was they had a ceo there of a fuel company and he explained that the reason major airlines can't shift to biofuels is because of the delivery mechanism and insurance risks. thats why biofuels aren't going to gain ground in major airlines but private companies placed a lot of orders for the electric craft.

they also had an electric ultralite there called the e-spyder that was pretty fucking cool. ultralites are the best bet for e-engines because by cutting down the drag they can take the craft another 45 minutes out.

I love the serious information and I have definitly expanded my knowledge by reading what some amazing minds have to say, they really make me think.

But the human nature experiments are also fascinating. It makes me see what makes people tick and it actually helps me deal with people in my RL job. I manage a large professional office and the people I have to deal with are like children.

My new way of handling things when someone comes to me with a trivial complaint is to stare at them blankly and watch them squirm.
