In the most recent case of terrorism in the US Faisal Shahzad was arrested for attempting to blow up an SUV in Time Square. Faisal Shahzad is said to of recently visiting Pakistan for explosives training. There he was taught you could blow up a propane tank with M-80s.
Seriously....
The complete make up of this epic fail includes
And when the bomb in the Pathfinder did not go off, the authorities had not only the vehicle, but also the raft of explosive elements packed inside: two neon-color alarm clocks and the time one was set to, some batteries, two five-gallon gasoline containers, three propane tanks, firecrackers, fertilizer packed in clear plastic bags bearing a store’s logo, a cooking pot and a 78-pound metal gun box, a GC-14P 14-gun steel security cabinet manufactured by Stack-On (http://stack-on.com/securityplus/gun_cabinets_and_pistol_boxes/gc-14p.html), the police said.
Now someone with some chemistry knowledge help me out here because I was under the impression that ammonia nitrate by itself will not blow up but needs to be mixed with another chemical to be dangerous...
The guy would of been better off dumping those five gallon containers of gas all over his car having a flare on a timer....This has to be one of the stupidest ideas I have seen in a long time...
And this guy spent thousands to hit Pakistan for specialized explosives training... Training that could of been done online and probably yielded more insightful means of making something go boom... because lets face it...
If this story is one hundred percent true.. and that is their idea of explosives training honestly what do we have to fear? I'd be more worried about people this stupid getting jobs on an oil rig and doing something wrong that might cause an explosion...
So does anyone here believe this shit about Faisal Shahzad or is this just more domestic bullshit propaganda meant to scare the US into surrendering more civil rights?

Think of it like this... Shahzad was attempting to make the same type of explosive used by McVeigh in OKC.
I suppose one might suggest that U.S. military training is a bit superior to that of the Taliban.

:) Appears to be.

Absolutely. His mother was probably paying his rent, which means that she was financially supporting terrorism and is therefore clearly Taliban, and al-Qaeda gave him a copy of the Colombine Cookbook.

I still have trouble believing this dude thought he could blow up a propane tank with m-80s
Theirs stupid and then theirs "I drank the lye" stupid.
On a side note Jack may of accidentally brought up a great point about that new bill that revokes citizens citizenship status...
Suppose his mommy was paying his bills... that does mean she gave him material support (And that she was a US citizen) ... but suppose she had no clue about any of his terrorist desires and just happens to be guilty of being an arab muslim mother who loved her son and gave him money to help him out...... DO you think the state department would be understanding of her ignorance or is it more likely they would revoke her citizenship and exile her?

I have little doubt whatsoever that however innocently you may have assisted someone, even just paying their friggin cable bill for them, one would be considered a conspirator by officials.

Not really Jack. Just saw that shit live as it was going down on tv that day as they were finding some undetonated bombs, 3 of them if I am not mistaken, which they promptly defused and took outside the building. They were strapped to main pillars.
Anarch just told me it's probably because it was aired on canadian TV...
This is why that frigging McVeigh story never stuck on my good side, it is full of shit, always was.

There's a LOT of shit there that doesn't make sense. The book is full of stuff. It was written by his lawyer, who was no longer bound by attorney-client privilege after he was fired and McV decided to become a martyr. A martyr for what, we will probably never know.
On a side note. One result of OKC, was something that most people never realized, and then assumed that it came in under tha Patriot Act. But it is a fact that after OKC, the FBI no longer required a warrant to listen in on phone conversations.

I'm glad you brought this up anarch (*pats on the butt) I really think something fishy is going on.
A lot of things don't add up. This guy is either set up or a really hard core idiot.

No kidding Royal!
Anyone can cook up metal pipe bombs with internet know how, plenty of sites on the subject , chisel them enough so they would have the same effect as grenades, stick a timer on them with an ignition source and cover the whole shit with a tarp. Would have been unnoticeable and deadly.
This set up was meant to be noticed and found out.
