There is ample evidence presented herein that notoriety/infamy is an extant variant of the OP's concept of "fame".

Does this mean that a rogues' gallery of some kind is necessary. And in that case will there be a lot more adulation expressed in the rogues gallery than in the Hall Of Fame.
