Fifty-one decapitated skeletons found in a burial pit in Dorset were those of Scandinavian Vikings, scientists say.

Brutality...

Project manager David Score said: "To find out that the young men executed were Vikings is a thrilling development.

Just spiffing, wot? *snort*

If they were Romans I could understand it, I mean... What have the Romans ever done for us?

I love Vikings but I hate foreigners so I have mixed feelings about this article.
The Vikings in question forgot the first rule of warfare. When fighting saxons, attack with 52 or more in your party.

Cool article.

This doesn't make sense to me...

The Saxons and the Vikings hail from the same culture...

Only one is from Germany (Saxony to be precise) and one is Scandanavian...

Very similar culture...

What are they using as 'differentiating factors'.

I'm half drunk, so you could probably bullshit me and get away with it... till morning... (ah, who am I kidding... late morning, early afternoon hahahhaha)

One tremendous difference, seafaring. Vikings were, obviously, fantastic seafarers and made it to the Americas way before Columbus. They were the scourge of the coastlines all throughout Europe and, I believe, into the Middle East. For some reason, they never were able to push inland much. They are most certainly Germanic but somewhat different than their Germanic brethren. The Saxons were a'ight with the whole boating business (just ask the British) but really didn't hold a candle to the Vikings.
As for other differentiating factors, I'm guessing diet had something to do with it.
My guess is 51 Vikings were attacked by 100 or more Saxons which is why they lost.

The difference being though, that the Saxons were invited into england by Vortergern....

They didn't need seafaring...

Vortergern invited the Saxons in to deal with rebellion and be essentially a 'mercinary army'...

That didn't work out so well... after they were invited... a famine hit the Britons...

oh shit... we're getting in to my specialty hahahahahah
