That being said..I'm sure we feel there is an endless supply, especially as long as there are countries to invade and nations fighting over the natural resources at the north pole.
Truth be told, nobody knows how much oil there is, or what the effects of us sucking the planet dry of it really are.
It may be in abundance now..not so later.
How efficient really are the alternative fuels we are seeing now?

Oil held for ransom to the highest bidder.

Well...technically, the rich will get richer; as they've completely depleted the oil fields to lord over the rest of our heads.

The earth is like a car, but only to certain degrees. It's not going to seize up or anything. And it's not as though Gaia needs all that lubricant to grease up her joints.

Oil is the by-product result of millions of years of decaying matter and gasses. So in a weird way, when we mine for oil, we're cleaning out the earth's plumbing. lolol

It's what we DO with the oil that makes all the difference.

If oil was a large part of the underground eco-system, and I mean entailling a LOT of mass under our feet, then I'd worry about 'cave-ins'. There's where the 'imploding' would come into affect.

As far as we know, that's not the main crux of our oil probs we have today.
