I started eating raw food a couple of years ago and noticed I was a lot better looking for it. I have since lapsed but Im thinking of going back to high raw.

Who's judging decent? And shall we say this much? Shall we say that studes have shown that anything one believes will truly make them into a better person somehow will most likely have some placebo effect on said person(s)? An all donut diet would probably have some success if people didn't already know about the effect of donuts as a whole.
May I reccomend to you Quantum Psychology by Robert Anton Wilson. He's spot on with his bad self. But he's ALSO dead now... so not evenquantum reality will save you from death and how pretty your rotten corpse is gunna look after your raw food diet eventually kills you like all DIEts do.

Raw meat? No thanks. Not unless I raised it, slaughtered it, and butchered it myself.
Raw vegetables? Fine with me, but you don't have to eat them raw. Eat more fruit, instead.
Furthermore, for as long as mankind has used fire we have cooked meat over it and ate it.
Furthermore, bread dates back to the Neolithic era, when hunter-gatherer societies first began to stop wandering around and started to plant the seeds they'd been collecting on their clothes. I mean, they did eat the plants as they wandered past them anyway, right? Twenty thousand years later: MTV, the Roman Catholic Church, nuclear weapons, apathetic Americans, instantaneous communications and travel to the moon.
Raw food? Only in moderation.

I was talking more about Raw Veggies, Fruit + Superfoods like Wheatgrass, Goji berries + Maca root, it did a hell of a lot for my health a couple of years ago and I was thinking of switching back...
Fruit is great but too much can cause candida flare ups and sugar imbalances in some people...
I also eat meat sometimes and I wasn't pushing veganism.
I am not dogmatic about everything having to be raw, I think boiled carrots, ginger etc are better than the uncooked version, because they're softer and easier on the gut. A boiled stew of carrots, ginger, Spinach, Cassava, and other assorted veggies completely healed my digestion recently, so cooked food has medicinal value too.
Raw food? Only in moderation
I agree... For medicinal purposes I might switch to a 70 per cent raw diet for the next while...
There are arguments for and against but the photos speak for themselves.

I suppose it depends on what you consider as "advanced," "degenerate," or otherwise.
Somewhere back in time I heard a comedian tell a bit (ahhh... the 90's) about not eating foods that contain ingredients that you cannot pronounce, and therefore by such logic only those with a degree in chemistry should eat Velveeta.
I'm pretty sure that a "good" diet should probably just follow that advice and go with it.
Enjoy your butter and sugar.

Talking head scientists will tell you on one hand that a raw food diet does nothing special for you (because it does nothing for the processed food industry) and then on the other they tell you to only lightly steam your food so you retain the appropriate enzymes.
I tried the raw food diet and I found that it did clear up my skin and I did lose weight and I did feel great..however, it is hard to keep to and I eventually broke at the movies and ate an entire tub of popcorn almost entirely by myself.

I'm glad this thread has been useful for some people.
Alessandra, I lost nearly a kilo a week when I first went raw, I was stuffing my face with as much fruit and veg as I could find and I never went hungry. I'm not much of a raw chef, you might want to check out www.shazzie.com (http://www.shazzie.com) for some good recipes. I would just buy your favourite spices and make sure whatever you eat is lightly flavoured with something you like. My favourites are green tabasco sauce and limes. Secondly, I don't know what your particular body needs, just go to the market, use your intution + enjoy it. You can't go far wrong if you remember to include lots of veggies. Dark Green leafy vegetables are very healing.
David Wolfe, Shazzie, Matt Monarch, Gabriel Cousens and a ton of others are all Great Raw Foodists.
I never bought a book, there is so much free info on youtube alone, SexyBitcheslikeitraw have some good recipes.

MissA, the below video is a good overview of the raw/anti-raw debate. Yes it's hard to stick to, everyone snaps and pigs out sometimes. When I first went raw I still drank beer and binged on mayonaise sandwiches and pizza, but because I stuck to it 70 per cent I felt the benefits.

David Wolfe: The Raw-Food Diet has finally come of age. I have been able to communicate with so many raw-foodists via e-mail, telephone, in person, in consultations, etc. that I finally discerned the essential factors of The Raw-Food Diet. I discovered that three food classes are essential to stay balanced on raw foods. These three classes of foods form the natural dietary character of the human body, which is represented in my book as The Sunfood Triangle. The Sunfood Triangle demystifies The Raw-Food Diet and provides the basic understanding necessary to achieve and stay balanced on a 100% raw-vegan diet. These three food classes are: 1. Green-leafy vegetables. 2. Sweet fruits. 3. Fats (such avocados, young coconuts, nuts, seeds, etc.) If any of these three food classes is missing in the diet for a long enough period of time, the person will be thrown off balance and experience less than optimal health. Each of these food classes represents a point on the triangle. The idea is to remain at the center of the triangle by balancing these three food classes against each other in the diet.
JEAA: What I find interesting in your book is that you explain how to use those 3 food classes for different issues or problems that raw-foodists face along the way. For example, if I want to gain weight and get bigger, what should I be eating according to your triangle?

Jesus, sorry for misinterpreting the point of your thread.
I agree raw foods are great for the body, I don't think its healthy to only eat raw, although I know people who have gotten away with it for a long time with no problems.
One of my friends from college actually did it for a few years, and gained muscle. I don't think he's still eating exclusively raw.
You don't typically see that happen with strict vegetarians.
Although, there was a poster here who swore by the vegetarian/vegan diet in terms of bodybuilding...

Fucking great post Raptor J man your intuition is right on.
I was switched on to this twenty years ago when I contracted Hep C in 1980. I lived a completely raw diet for 10 years.
I am completely cured myself and to this day I credit the action I took for myself after being told by my Dr that Hep C would end my life and that there was nothing that could be done to help me recover.
As you can guess I was in shock that this could be my what ended my life specially as liver disease is not a pleasant way to die. And I was very ill at the time so ill that I couldn't even walk up steps without some help.
That is when a very good friend came to my aid and took me to see and Iridologist, I might add that this Iridologist had no idea what was wrong with me.
I was shocked to attention when she took a look into my eyes and looked at the souls of my feet as she examined me then exclaimed that I was suffering from some form of hepatitis.
Then she told me that if I wanted to get well I would need to follow her instructions to the letter. I had to give up all the foods I loved that was fucking hard but as time went on I grew to love raw foods nuts grains etc and lived that way as I said for 10 years hardcore untill I meet the mother of my son she was a veggie head and as she liked to cook slowly I left the hardcore raw behind.
I have had regular blood tests to keep an eye on the hep C for 29 years each test in the first ten years showed a steady improvement and got to point where the liver functions where as near normal as I felt I could expect.
And over the past few years it has become what most Dr's would not be concerned by the minor fluctuations.
Then five years ago I was having my regular tests and my results came back totally clear both to mine my Dr's amazement so he sent me back for more blood work just to check and guess what totally clear again and totally clear to this day.
My Dr still cant believe that I have no signs of ever having Hep C some much so that last time I had a clear test he recalled all of my medical records of the past 29 years and is as I type this he is trying to figure out how I could have cured my self so completely from this killer disease go figure, your health is in your hands it's a no miracle when we take charge of our own health we can cure many ill's that befall the human body.

I do believe one's own actions are the only one's that count and the will to act in your own best interest is the only right action.
I believe totally in the power of of positive affirmation and action if you take control of a situation you will at least know that you took control and did your up most to make the best of whatever that situation my be good or bad.

No excuses no poor me everything happens for a reason I recon. Not always sure at the time what that is hahaha must be so as I can keep on laughing.

Wow, your body cured yourself of hep C due to a raw food diet?
Any other behaviors that you think contributed to beating the disease?
Exercise I'm assuming?
Plenty of :pound: ?
Your success story should be documented captain, that is quite extraordinary.
Ever thought of writing a book?

Impressive Captain... there are tons of simlar stories. My health went from awful to amazing within 2 months when I first went raw.
Milk Thistle and Choy Sum (Chinese flowering cabbage) are both very good for the liver, as is hydrotherapy (jets of cold water on the afflicted area) and a Chinese Herbal remedy called 'Xiao Yao Wan', translates as "The Free and Happy Wanderer". There's another Bupleurum formula called Shu Gan San (Smooth the liver powder) which workd well too. ALl the above is from personal experience.
Read Richard Schulze for hydrotherapy. His writing's over the top but he's basically right on.
I never had Hep C but my liver was in bad shape and now it's cured.
