Allright, before anyone goes flying off the handle...
I recieved a PM from WarrenB requesting that his username and posts be removed from all boards on Amkon.
I took a good 12 hours thinking about it... and decided to honor his request...
This decision was based off statements we made and positions we took very publically in the DMCA battle with Bill. We publically stated that the member retains ownership of their content...
During our battle with Bill, some of us requested to have our content removed from ATS with varying degrees of succeess... (even prompted a change in Bill's T&C as a result :) )
Anyway, I felt it would be the height of hypocrisy to publically state one thing, and in practice, conduct ourselves in a much different manner... Then we would be doing exactly what many accuse other sites of doing...
I made this decision based on trying to be true to what we have publically declared ourselves to be...
I'm sure this is going to cause a shitstorm, and many people will be supremely pissed... which is fine... Fairness rarely makes anyone happy...
So... there ya have it guys...
Now you can fly off the handle I guess :)

At least some of us have screencaps of the good stuff.
Not to mention we have his posts in a few raw backups that aren't going anywhere, so should he decide to piss any of us off again they'll pop back up mysteriously.

It would take a DMCA to get those things removed...
She made those posts with the screenshots... not warren...
Even if a DMCA take down comes in, the worst case scenario is providing proper attribution in those posts... then there's no way they can complain.

i totally and emphatically disagree with this action. i recall Shawwna Connolly doing this same thing at RU. It made certain threads unintelligible and destroyed the integrity of the site. in fact my protests resulted in my being banned there. it's utter bullshit. just as it's not possible any longer to be banned at Amkon- self banning is also a bad move. what is this- a voluntary apeci? put the shit back. this issue has nothing to do with 'ownership' of the posts and everything to do with the record.

What gets to me is the fact of how two faced most of those people are. Guess it's nothing new. With enough rope they may hang themselves.

The record for the most part remains in tact... most people quoted what he was saying... there's no loss of context from the stuff I looked at...

And, its not like he was a prolific poster... sixty some odd posts I think... all in about 2 or 3 threads... all about SHTF.
But, IMHO, if we thought this wasn't the way to go, we shouldn't have been talking out our asses in the past...

I didn't realize that AmKon was a place where you can say anything you want, but if you embarrass yourself you can ask the mods and admins to help you save your internet ego.
There is NO moral or legal justification for what pack did.
It wasn't ignoring the request that creates hypocrisy, not conceding to it.

Not necessarily "unwanted"....self censorship is a concept that is alive and well......clearly, warrenb's posts and content are wanted at this forum....hence, the reminders that the "screen shots" and "quotes" exist. So, what's the point?
However, on a realtime, public forum...it is more normally applied just before clicking on the "post" button...not 24 hours later, when the remorse, or worse, recriminations occur.

well i have no idea what that means.
i haven't been told anything and have had to go searching through threads to find out what the fuck is going on.
It seems that a regular AmKon drama event has occured.
Firstly it should be said that as an admin group we have failed to deal with this issue in the correct manner. It is not the fault of any one person but that as a team we should have a better process in place with dealing with these sorts of issue, to be honest it's not something we expected to have to deal with.
Hindsights a wonderful thing.
What is going to occur is that all of warrenb's posts that were deleted will be reinstated, please give us a reasonable amount of time to do this, it is late for some, early for others and god knows whatelse for Fox.
Secondly a final decision on how to deal with warrenb's request is yet to be made, we will work through this as an admin group but you will all be informed of any decisions that are made as it happens and will also be asked for your own input into the matter if you wish to do so.
Thirdly we will attempt to put in place procedures within the admin group to deal with these types of issues in a better manner in the future.
Please have some patience while we do this.
MY personal opinion, and i'm more than happy to share it with you all, even if it is not the final decision that the whole of the admin group and membership makes.
Warrenb came here of his own accord to recruit members of AmKon to his own site, and we allowed him to do that without any constraints placed on him at all. He has since returned here on numerous occasions, as well as members of his site and members of his staff to engage our members in debate regarding the legitimacy of their site as a Conspiracy forum and allowed him to do so in the same manner as we would allow anyone.
Imo this is a completely different situation to the one that involved ATS and their DMCA notice that was served on us and the ensuing discussion about getting them to remove our posts.
This from the updated T&C which i first posted a couple of months ago and under which warrenb agreed to abide by.
AmKon probably won't investigate any reported violation of its policies or complaints and take any action. Such non-action may include, but is not limited to, not issuing warnings, suspension's or termination of service, and/or removal of posted Content. AmKon reserves the right and has absolute discretion, to not remove, screen or edit any Content that is objectionable.
As you can see, warrenb, by posting here agreed to do so under our T&C which clearly state that we probably won't remove or edit posted content on this forum.
It is my belief that under these circumstances that we should not and do not need to aquiesse to his demands.
I would also like to add that some members of this site have acted in a completely irrational and hysterical manner regarding this whole episode and need to take a fucking good look at themselves.
It seems that some people like to continually over-react and attack the integrity of the few staff members we have here.
I'm not going to whine and complain that we do it for free, that we all have lives and jobs and families that also need our time, nor am i going to remind those same people who have never made any mistakes that we are after all only human, because i doubt very much that they would listen.
Lastly, those that have threatened to leave and are unwilling to accept our position can go ahead and do so, see you later.
Those that are able to understand that yes, a hasty decision was made, and yes we accept responsibility for not having a process in place to stop that from occuring, and that we are working towards resolving it, and are at the same time able to accept that the part they have played in the drama also has not helped the situation then we obviously welcome you back with open arms.
The rest of you can carry on doing whatever you want.

Hey Homingpigeon, I'm a member of shtf but never considered myself one of "Warren's people" and wish you wouldn't either. I am a member of a website that I enjoy and feel comfortable posting in. That's it. I learned about this site from shtf. If Warren and amkon members hadn't mentioned amkon on shtf, I would probably never known of it existence.
Since I have been testing the waters here, I see that there are some valid points and solid reasoning for setting up Amkon the way it is.
Amkon touts itself as a anarchist, free speech, no-holds-barred, anything goes site (minus porno) and has a dedicated group of members who support that vision.
SHTF is new. Its a news site that touts itself as a place for respectful discussion among its membership.
I still don't get what the problem between the two is. Is it because Warren solicited membership for shtf from amkon? Then the individuals who chose to sign up at shtf testing the waters, so to speak?
A large percentage of participants on both sites would rather not engage in mind-numbing blather. But the few who do want to cause problems, instigate division and propagate hatred are having a field day.
I just wish Amkon members would realize that each person is their own authority and do not reflect the ideals or visions of their particular favorite internet forum unless specifically stated as such.
Anyway, I beg you all, here and there, to stop the hate! Its killing us virtually and will spill over into real life.

I try to be a frigging perfectionist when it comes to those things.
Several years under my belt dabbling into audio and video editing software.
But converting an .mkv file into an .avi file so it can be watched on a dvd player is just too much fucking job but worth it, highest quality i've fell upon ever.
