Maybe.
I think it is worth it to try. I know alot of folks here have big issues with it. Folks from amkon who visited SHTF have been censored, banned, and dissed... I do not know what I can do to help but I think it is worth a shot to try and do something. I see a rift and I want to try to do what I can to help fix it. It may sound stupid and I may be dumb for trying but I figure it is worth a shot to try and build up some understanding and friendship between us.
So Let me tell you about myself and my experience and how in the hell I got here.
I started out as a conspiraziod on GLP. I was an ignorant noob back then and I did not know any better. Their were things I liked there and things I did not like. I eventually broke my ties with them over the Hedi-Lore incident. At the time Hedi was an ex of mine but we were still friends. Glop made up some bullshit about he posting a fake suicide thread and banned her ass.
Since I knew that was bull I left and went to JuryRoll where I moderated that site for about a year.
JuryRoll had free speech like Amkon here does. It had lots of mods but we never did nothing. Until One day a fucker named biscuit came in...he was just a true dick for the fuck of it. I mean he was a "raping aborted babies" kind of vile. A true fucktard. That was the first person we censored and banned... and it would be the last... Due to some strange behaviors from the site owner SandMan AKA Tim... we left and formed juryroll two... which is still there but it is a quiet site. I moved on to All The Sheep.
I liked standards they had at first. Their was less bickering among members, less banter about stupid shit more focus on what the topic was about and I liked it. Then time passed. I noticed things like how the mods there had special privilege to speak on things members could not. How even talking about the ban procedure was a taboo. Then I dug trough the old threads and read about the DragonRider episode and I kinda got the gist there. I stayed because I thought things had evolved since then. And I still enjoyed being on a site that had standards and ethics about posting and member behavior.
Then I noticed some folks I liked had stopped posting there... then Lucent told me about what happened to Sancho and Warrenb and warned me about the U2Us being read and invited me to SHTF.
So I joined SHTF and I met some of you guys. We all spoke on Aboves BS...but some of yall got real pissed that the speech there was not as free as you would of liked. The right to insult someone personally for example.
Sancho, King, and Warrenb are going through.... birthing pains with SHTF. They have alot of mods... and some of those folks should not even be mods in my opinion but hey it is not my puppy its theirs. They also have this council thing they are experimenting with. The theory is if some is to be banned the mods take the name to the council and they give it the thumbs up or down.
They don't want to be an Above clone but they do want to maintain that system of standards they previously enjoyed as well as indulge in new liberties they did not get previously. They want to be able to talk about Israeli conspiracies but they don't folks insulting each other over it. They want folks to be able to discuss drugs with out being labeled junkies.
They want to do right by folks... but this is still a new thing to them.... They are apt to make mistakes... some of them have no idea what they are doing as this is the first time moderating or administrating for some of them.
They are gonna make mistakes... Have already made mistakes... And they are attempting to learn from these mistakes.
They do not have a freespeech code like juryroll had or like Amkon here has. They are working off of what they knew previously and trying to re-mix it into something they can call their own.
Amkon here is Great. It is your established thing. Yall are way past your birthing pains and very well established. You know what your values are and what you stand for. SHTF is still trying to figure that out for themselves.
To that end I would like to do what I can for you guys and them.
I want to repay the favor some among you have already done for SHTF. Some of yall have posted great stuff and brought up the short comings in a most..."Direct" manner. That has caused some friction and it was that friction that brought my ass here. I'd like to help fix any mistakes that have been made by SHTF if I can and help resolve any conflicts between us when they happen.
It's not perfect, nothing is... but were trying here.
I don't know if can do anything do anything to make shit better... but if you gotta a suggestion I am willing to try and find some common ground.

First, you won't find "common ground" between the sites because there is no one with which to negotiate here. You've stumbled into a nest of freethinkers: while one person might say "ok", the next might tell you to go fuck yourself.
So that being said... as for myself....
STFU411 supports hoaxes, bad science (if you could even call that "science"), and confuses "investagoogling" with "research". Some retard posts a bunch of no-logic, no-fact, nonsense and the moderators fawn all over them with "good job" and "great post", which have become the STFU411 equivalent of "starred and flagged".
There's no saving that place because the fundamental reason for its existence is complete bullshit internet egotism, and not legitimate research or discussion.
The internet is already overflowing with places where the stupid and the insane pander their ridiculously inconceivable world views and it doesn't need another.
You want to fix STFU411?
Shut it down, format the hard disk, and turn off the lights.

to be perfectly honest i can't see much of an amicable exchange between hardcore amkoids and shtf.
i'll probably not be going back at least until your forum has had a chance to evolve its standards. then i'll make a considered decision regarding whether i contribute or not.
i started a thread over there regarding censorship and free speech, all well within their own T&C and generally all posts within that thread were discussed amicably. the thread was dumped into the trash a couple of days ago, then reinstated and then dumped again, for good this time i believe.
i'm not interested in posting anymore of my serious research or original pieces somewhere that my threads can disappear on a whim.
i think it's over moderated, i think the owners/admins are just a little bit tyrannical and just a little bit hypocritical as well.
it's true we had similar growing pains as well in the early days, but i can't see any real progress occuring at shtf with the amount of moderation and beaurocracy thats been instigated.
i wish them well however and hope that they do find their way, but any suggestions we have made, either benignly or loudly have been largely ignored or censored.
the real irony is that we were pretty much invited over there by warrenb to begin with.
if he'd known anything at all about this site and our etho's he would have known exactly what to expect.
there might be a few amkon members that continue to post over there, thats up to them, but afaic i've already wasted enough time and material.

From what I have seen, they are taking the road of lame, recount the same old stuff. Everything isn't some conspiracy. If it was we wouldn't be doing what we are doing. We might be headed that way someday but it's not here yet.
They need to lighten up. It takes two sides.

Ok...well...I can not shut it down as I do not own it...
But I could tell the mods that some folks think they are to liberal with their praises.
I know Sancho is a john lear fan... And I have my own opinion of the man (john lear) But I do think it is a bit early to say they support hoaxes.... It is an infant website that just got started.... They are still trying to figure out what they support... and like I said they are apt to make mistakes.
I don't think SHTF needs saving... I don't think it will sink... But I do see a rift here and I feel inclined to do whatever I can fix that rift.
I mean SHTF is not like GLOP or Above Bullshit... Nor is it like Amkon... But I don't think it is a bad site... just new.
And noobs make mistakes.
Mistakes tend to piss people off.
So I'd like to help if possible...

Yeah, well, I had five of my posts just disappear because the dictator of SHTF wanted to hide a forum where people made critical remarks about the site. I didn't even get a notice about it, the posts were suddenly just gone...
It pissed me off, so I started a thread and asked what happened to my posts. Some lame mods didn't even know that the forum had been hidden from sight from the members, and tried to make it look like I was some kind of idiot with a computer problem. I got even more pissed. And then warrenb told me to fuck off and threw my thread in the trash bin... Pretty weird behaviour from people who claim to have left ATS because of sencorship, don't ya think?
And the content... I don't even want to think about the stupid, mindless content over there. The worst of the worst over at ATS gets copied and pasted and rehashed, proven hoaxes used yet another time to get some clicks and page views from people who doesn't know any better. So with the sencorship and the braindead content put together, I don't really see much of a future for SHTF.
Perhaps AmKons are willing to give SHTF another chance. I'm not.

You cannot have a sensible Forum, when the residents require proof from the sceptics rather than from the people making the claim.
The sceptics are entitled to as much respect as the claimants. However, though insults are forbidden over there, you can guild an insult so it doesnt seem like one and that is what the mods are doing. An Insult is an insult, no matter how its wrapped.
SHTF is nothing more than a mini ATS or OM, same stupid posts, same stupid warnings and bans.

I still post at SHTF... The sensorship cracks me up sometimes, and much of my serious research really isn't posted there... Hell for the most part, my main body of research isn't even posted here... guess I'm too lazy to consolidate it and type it out... sigh...
Anyway, I participated in all the ZOMFG SHTF sux threads, but tried to remain neutral... pointing out flaws in both sides of the argument...
SHTF is still a new site and their trying to find their feet... extreme sucking up isn't going to be helpful to the staff... and the same goes for hardline detraction.
Anyway, I'm just my charming self over there... which will ultimately someday probably result in a ban... but until then, I'm willing to stick it out...
I've been impressed with the way some of the mods have handled things... and likewise have been unimpressed by other mods...
Anyway, I tend to look at forums a little differently than most... Most people look at the quality of a forum by looking at the sum of its mods... I look more at individual members..
There are some crazies (okay... ALOT of crazies)... some of the stuff over there is completely wacked out crazy ass bullshit... but we have that here at amkon too... Do I think they're nuts? yup... But, They can post what they want... and I can choose to participate in whatever thread I want... I have no desire to avoid crazy... (if that were the case, the internet is the wrong place to go for that lol)
Anyway, I've probably ruffled some feathers over there... and I know I have over here in the past... but I don't hold grudges...

The way he came to AmKon to fish for members and pretended he didn't know who Springer is, after being an active member of ATS for over a year, spoke louder than anything else for me. There is no way in hell warrenb didn't know who Springer is, the Springer who just days before also "threatened" his forum with legal action. (Nice PR stunt for their new little forum, by the way.)
Warrenb obvious lie confirmed my suspicion that the real puppetmasters behind SHTF are the owners of ATS, trying to squeese another buck out of members who are not useful at their head quarter business anymore. The truth is that the idiots and hoaxers are only tolerated for a limited time before the sane and normal members rip their BS apart and then go on to ignore them. Their crap threads eventually dies, no more clicks and page views, noe more bucks for the ATS owners.
I am absolutely convinced that the recent and systematic bannings of these BS members have been planned for some time behind the scenes. Everyone who has been a member of ATS for some time knows how the mods and staff use sock puppets and manipulate threads and mess with their members to drive traffic. Now they have found a new way to manipulate their members and earn some more money, that's all.
The whole things just stinks to high heaven. I absolutely refuse to be a part of this scam, I refuse to give them content to make money off, I refuse to give them clicks and page views to attract advertisers. I hope they don't make a dollar out of their new and loathsome business venture. I have more respect for people who go out and steal candy from toddlers.

Welcome to amkon anarch. There's definitely commonality between amkon and shtf. I don't think affiliation is going to work until (if and when I suppose) a few things change over there though. I've said my peace and probably will not login again.

The URL was registered over a year ago, so why is it still maintained that it took less than a month to get the site online?
Such behavior would seem to establish a pattern of saying something publicly while taking different actions behind the scenes.
It highlights my previous point, which is that the only way to fix SHTF411.com is to format the hard disk and start over... preferably with a completely new administration that doesn't idolize the ATS propaganda model.

"Pirated Software/Music" - I have no problem with members linking to a favorite torrent or p2p site/client. However, I do ask that no one place any "illegal" software on AmKon.net once the upload feature is implemented. As long as it is hosted offsite, AmKon is not liable. Please just make sure any links you post are not from any "private" torrent trackers. They tend to frown upon spreading their torrents around the net. Providing referrals or invites to them is, however, acceptable as long as you have the ability to do so and do it in an appropriate manner. (IE: Private Messaging/SPAM Forum)
Language - The primary language at AmKon.net is English. Please try to stick to it in the public forums. If you must speak to a fellow member in another language, please do it via PM. If enough members of other languages become members, I would be more than happy to provide them with their own forum if asked.

yes it was....but you have to take it in context.
we were expecting droves of ats'ers to join as well as a bunch of cronies from there to spam us as well as legal threats from the amigo's.
and we were right, thats exactly what we got.
since then jasn and i have both reviewed and rewritten the rules a bunch of times.
the difference is that we very rarely...if ever...enforced those rules pack, stfu enforced their tyranny from day one.
they are nothing like this forum in any way whatsoever, even in their early incarnation, i think apart from pron bots and spammers we have only ever banned maybe 3 people, 2 of them are still members.
and both of those bannings were the consequence of staff not communicating very well imo.
there is one thing which amkon and stfu have in common.....were both on the internet.

difference is ....see my post above....we very rarely enforced any of our early rules.
jasn had had a bit to do with forums, i had no experience. inityially we were just trying to protect ourselves from the shitstorm we knew was coming.
the rules were a means towards an end, stfu rules are a means.
