New Amkon Contest!

Looks like we haven't had an official Amkon contest in a while... so I thought I'd toss this one up there...

Lets see who can Design a header!

(THe header is the design at the top of the forum...)

Anyway, The only restrictions are I need all designs to be 1000 pixels wide by about 200 pixels high... (height is more flexible... but 1000 px wide is not)

I guess the prize is getting your header put at the top of one or more themes when we switch to the new board, and credit given to your username (or name if you prefer) in the HTML code...

Lets run this thing until November 7th... for two weeks... Submissions can be either here, in this thread, or PMed to me or another admin. If you need to Email as an attachment instead, just PM me, i'll give ya my email.

There's nothing wrong with the current header. However, in the near future we will be upgrading to either a newer version of phpbb3 or vbulletin and we will probably not be using the blackbox or xtreme green skin.

The current header will most likely not be the right color (now its either green or "piss boy yellow").

We're looking into a skin that will give members the choice to decide their own color scheme :P. It'll take a bit of tweaking and tinkering though lol.

That one probably won't have a black background though, and the current header most likely won't look right anyway.

One of them right now just says "VBulletin" in the style of their logo.

The other one for the new site that I've been working on has the Barn/nuke image on our splash page...

But, we've got a few themes here for people to choose from... I want to give them options on the new forum...

Its not a big deal... You don't have to select any of em if you don't want... you can just view in the VBulletin default if you like.

Wanted your opinions here...

1. Was thinking of a header that contained some 'watermarked' images in the background. Don't want to have too much going on that distracts the eyes in a bad way.

2. Definately want the AMKON.NET to be prominent in the header (most likely centered)

3. Catchy 'phrase'? in smaller letters under the words AMKON.NET

4. Member's 'artwork' to include in the header. Could be integrated with the 'watermarks'?

I don't know what you mean by "watermarked" ducky... usually a watermark is a copywrite declaration...

But, sounds like the ideas you have are just about what goes into a good header :P Not too busy, visually appealing etc...

Its been trimmed from our main splash page and streched to 1000 pixels wide...

Colors don't even matter right now... if someone designs an epic header in an off color scheme... I can always tweak forum colors around it to make it match.

Did you ever see paintings that are so vivid with color, but at the same time, the artist integrated black and white 'sketches' as a border within the actual frame border?
