The Home Project (http://www.youtube.com/homeproject)
[offsite:xhmzb195]HOME is an ode to the planet's beauty and its delicate harmony. Through the landscapes of 54 countries captured from above, Yann Arthus-Bertrand takes us on an unique journey all around the planet, to contemplate it and to understand it. But HOME is more than a documentary with a message, it is a magnificent movie in its own right. Every breathtaking shot shows the Earth - our Earth - as we have never seen it before. Every image shows the Earth's treasures we are destroying and all the wonders we can still preserve. "From the sky, there's less need for explanations". Our vision becomes more immediate, intuitive and emotional. HOME has an impact on anyone who sees it. It awakens in us the awareness that is needed to change the way we see the world. (HOME embraces the major ecological issues that confront us and shows how everything on our planet is interconnected.)
Synopsis
In 200,000 years on Earth, humanity has upset the balance of the planet, established by nearly four billion years of evolution. The price to pay is high, but it is too late to be a pessimist: humanity has barely ten years to reverse the trend, become aware of the full extent of its spoliation of the Earth's riches and change its patterns of consumption.[/offsite:xhmzb195]
The video is an hour and a half long, so if you plan on watching it grab a bag of popcorn or a blunt or a few beers.

". . . much of our success in rescuing the global
ecological system will depend upon whether we can
find a new reverence for the environment as a
whole -- not just its parts."

However if you don't agree with Al Gore, there's no room in that new environment for you.
Al Gore is a lying, unscientific, self-important, jet-riding, 400 incandescent light bulb using, silk suit wearing, disingenuous, self-righteous, daddy's boy that should stop getting botox, plastic surgery, and fake tans and just fucking roll over and die.

Your own source sees it differently. Did you actually read it? Al Gore was the inspiration for the project!
Although famous for its Earth from Above pictures, this is the first movie by French photographer Yann Arthus Bertrand. He got the idea of making it moved by the impact Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth had since its release.
"When I invited Al Gore to show his film, An Inconvenient Truth, to the French Parliament, I realized just how much impact a movie could have, even more than a TV program. I saw how moved the audience was—to tears in some cases—and I said to myself that a feature film was an excellent way of reaching people," he said in an interview at the press release brochure.Yann Arthus-Bertrand 2008

Nothing like taking a private jet to go places to talk about carbon footprint and saving the planet eh?

LOL convinient...
through the 90's all the global warming people dissed the guys who called it bullshit
Now that its not warming, but cooling... the global warming crowd changed to the "climate change" group... and are still dissing the guys who call it bullshit.
Do the Greenies have it right? Nope
Do the Deniers have it right? Nope.
Again with the binary opposition...
Not everything has to be a 1 or a 0... sometimes its a 2

Here's the 2004 DOD report by Randall and Schwartz that started it all. It's all about abrupt climate change. This is a great read. The link is to the PDF file. http://www.gbn.com/articles/pdfs/Abrupt%20Climate%20Change%20February%202004.pdf

Al Gore is to environmentalism what Stephen Greer is to UFOlogy.
Both deserve all the scorn we can heap upon them.

This public report, fully entitled "An Abrupt Climate Change Scenario and Its Implications for United States National Security," was prepared by GBN for the Department of Defense. "The purpose of this report is to imagine the unthinkable—to push the boundaries of current research on climate change so we may better understand the potential implications on United States national security,” stated the authors in their introduction. The report was based on interviews with leading climate experts and scientists. These experts agreed that the scenario described is extreme in two fundamental ways: the occurrences would most likely happen in a few regions, rather than globally, and the magnitude of the event may be considerably smaller. Nevertheless, although the climate change scenario depicted in the report is not the most likely, it is plausible, and would challenge United States national security in ways that should be considered immediately. This report was the subject of several news stories including an excerpt in Fortune magazine in its Feb. 9, 2004, issue (" The Pentagon’s Weather Nightmare,” by David Stipp).
So who is the GBN?
Global Business Networks.
Hrm... founders of GBN (According to sourcewatch)
Peter Schwartz - also a venture partner of Alta Partners, a venture capital firm in San Francisco
Jay Ogilvy - An author and Social Scientist.
Napier Collyns - a senior associate of Cambridge Energy Research Associates, a public director of the New York Mercantile Exchange...
Stewart Brand - best known as the founder, editor, and publisher of The Whole Earth Catalog (1968-1985; National Book Award, 1972). [2]
Brand is the founder of The WELL computer teleconferencing system and author of "The Clock of the Long Now", "How Buildings Learn", and "The Media Lab" [3], as well as the CoEvolution Quarterly (1975-1985).
Brand is a co-founder of the Global Business Network (GBN) (1988) [4]; the The Long Now Foundation (1995) [5], "whose core project is the construction of a 10,000 year clock called The Clock of the Long Now"; the ALL Species Foundation (2001) [6], "to find and document every life form on Earth" [7]; and the Long Bets Foundation (2001), "an arena for competitive, accountable predictions" and "to foster better long-term thinking." [8][9]
Brand served as a member of the board of Directors of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) (1990-1994). [10]
Cananda Council, Ecotrust [1]
Fellow (2008), Lindisfarne Association [2].
Also important to note that Brand holds interests in Nuclear Power.
Lawrence Wilkinson - Standard, run of the mill PR guy.
Now, lets look at the membership list at GBN...
From sourcewatch again.
General Electric, Bechtel, Duke Power, Siemens-Westinghouse, Fluor, Electric Power Research Institute, Pacific Gas & Electric, Southern California Edison, Électricité de France, Iberdrola, Vattenfall, Sydkraft (now E.ON Sweden) and Sandia National Labratories. Some of these, including GE, Bechtel, Duke Power and Westinghouse, are receiving government subsidies to develop the next generation of nuclear power plants.
Seems to be quite the growing list of Energy providers related to this research isn't there?
So why would a Company strongly backed by the Nuclear industries release a report about carbon footprint to teh government... Perhaps to justify or get even more out of their contracts/subsidies they have to develop the next generation of Nuclear Generators?
Its all spin man... all of it...
You need to look at where/who does the report before you start taking it as gospel... even if you agree with the basic premise, you have to check the source...
This is how PR works... now its covered in the MSM pretty strongly...
I can't stress it enough BE... always always always vet your sources.

So why would a Company strongly backed by the Nuclear industries release a report about carbon footprint to teh government. What kind of an asshole are you? The report has nothing to do with 'carbon footprint.' It's conclusions are that these changes will occur regardless of human impacts. It was written for the DOD with a view to strategic responses to abrupt climate change. Christ you're a fool.

You fail to acknowledge the point... once again...
Why would a group of companies with stakes in the nuclear industry want to issue a fear mongoring report to the government?
sigh.
You also say the changes "will occur", meaning you already take everything in that as 100% fact...
Shall I go through a list of other "Reports" issued by futurologists that have not come to fruition?
anyway, ignore the point all you want... the Point still stands uncontested thus far.

I"m questioning the validity of a climate change report issued by Energy lobbyists lol

My wife just watched An Inconvenient Truth for the first time. I felt compelled to walk in and out of the room periodically while she was watching it just to make sure that she hadn't thrown a shoe through the plasma TV.
The TV survived, although I think she bit clear through a pencil.
