Ok, give me a fucking break.

Sitchin often references a pic from
Sumerian text that supposedly shows
10 planets orbiting our sun.

Count the fucking planets.

Eleven.

Ummmmm......

Moons ?

What fucking moons ?

Sitchin says it's a 10th
planet.

I count 11.

He fails.

Something I found nosing :D

[offsite:28v4hyjn]But still, there's the `Berlin Seal' (also known as the `Akkadian Seal'). On it, you clearly see more planets than there are in our solar system:

But what you see isn't a map of the solar system at all. It's decoration, probably. Or a picture of Venus, as seen from our planet, and surrounded by stars. The ancient Babylonians made funny little drawings like this all the time. And they all looked different. So it's just coincidence this one resembles a solar system.
We do know for sure that it isn't a map, because the Babylonians believed the Earth was the center of the solar system. No Babylonian would have placed the Sun in the center. Besides, the `map' is full of errors. The planets are out of proportions and Saturn has no ring. And obviously, there are too many `planets'.[/offsite:28v4hyjn]

my old friend and sometimes nemesis marduk at ats debunked sitchin better than anyone ive ever come across, sad day when they banned him.

[ats:1zz6t2vm]dumbshit[/ats:1zz6t2vm]

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread223598/pg1

now i realise of course that orthodox trained and qualified sumerologists to a man all say that this shows the Akitu festival which happened twice a year,
the first time being during the ancient world new year when the pleaides was in ascendence and which the sumerians used as a new year marker
and the second time being during the month of GIRTAB (scorpio) 6 months later
of course if that were the case then theyd be able to produce a very similar cylinder seal that has a scorpion in the same pllace that VA243 has twelve planets wouldn't they
and their claim that it shows the pleaides which the sumerians called MUL.MUL (star and stars) bears some consideration but i prefer the idea that it correctly shows the twelve planets in our solar system much better
and yes before anyone says anything i realise that officially there are now only 8 extra solar planets in our system since we just lost pluto but the Annunaki spacemen who actually flew past it must have known better so we'll have to take their word for it as translated by Zechariah. the orthodox sumerologists can't even spell Nibiru anyway. for some reason they spell it Neberu and claim it was a word that meant quay, port; crossing or ford and not a planet on a highly eliptical 3600 year orbit so what do they know eh

http://psd.museum.upenn.edu/epsd/epsd/e148.html

but having done a little research myself i have discovered something that mr Sitchin has missed
here is a cylinder seal that i found that shows another extra planet in our solar system
its just as valid as saying that VA243 shows twelve planets

as you can see it shows a huge scorpion shaped planet that can only be on an even more highly eliptical orbit than Nibiru or else Mr Sitchin would have discovered it long ago and been sure to mention it to his loyal fans the sitchenites already
because I can see no reason why he wouldn't mention it, can you

if you dont get it, marduk was the king of sarcasm.

The Sumerian new year was also the time that new kings were crowned
had one decided to choose the Akitu festival during Girtab he would have been known as the scorpion king by association
funnily enough that seal i posted shows the king holding the staff of Anum
this signifies that he is already regarded as a God
there was only one king in the akkadian period who had that honour bestowed upon him
Sargon the great
it is also the reason why he isn't followed by a guard with an axe
the Akitu festival neccesitated the kings public humiliation to show that he submitted to the will of the Gods because they were believed to return to earth during the festival festivities
apparently they liked a humble king to guide the way
the king was ritually slapped in the face so hard that it wasn't considered a proper ritual unless it bought tears to his eyes
the King then took the hand of the seated Sun god statue
the belief was that if he was a good king no harm would befall him
if he were a bad king the heat of the sun God would immediately immolate him
Sargon being considered a God on the day of his coronation of course ranked as high as the rest of the deities
so no guard with axe on standby was required
and think about it
if you were a high priest would you slap a living god in the face

http://www.livius.org/aj-al/akitu/akitu.htm

Its Sitchin who's claiming that it proves that the Sumerians were in contact with Aliens from Nibiru
thats quite funny really seeing as Nibiru isn't even a sumerian word
ask a sumerian about Nibiru and hes gonna say "what are you talking about, what is this Nibiru that you speak of"

marduk thouroughly debunked sitchin in numerous posts at ats, check em out, good for a laugh.

12 including the sun. The sun representing the culmination of the cycle, death of a form, leading to birth of another form. The sun, formed from the death of other suns/planets/solar systems/galaxies. The sun representing the whole... the All.. The Ain...

eleven planets, not counting the sun. Eleven spheres. Where else do eleven spheres make an appearance?

I count 13 spheres...

13 being the numeral concerned with re-birth. The unlucky number of deja-vu.

Sumerians knew about the twelve steps to the 13th floor of Umayyad?

I'm tired. Dunno what I just said. Look at the sun and the system around it. It's causing the guy beholding it to be in awe.

The awe struck is following a man that seems a lot more focused. As you see in the picture, the more focused man has only but a small point upon which he seems to be aiming himself towards.

The more focused individual is leading in the approach towards the King.

There is much more I could say regarding this particular Tablet... but I'm simply observing amd drawing my own conclusions. To suggest that the Sumerians knew about extra planets is completely jumping the gun. If they had such advanced solar knowledge, why does it look more like a naive children's drawing than a declaration of scientific prowess?

Compared to civilizations of the time the sumerians were wonderful astronomers, scientists and thinkers.

1. Writing. (literary masterpieces like the Epic of Gilgamesh of which Oddysey and Illiad were based)
2. Base 60. (timekeeping and geometry)
3. Wheeled vehicles.
4. Commerce and Trade.
5. Book Keeping.
6. Calenders.(The foundation of astronomy at the time)
7. Monarchy.
8. Laws.

I could go on forever.

i can't stand sitchin or hancock either lex. they've ruined the study of sumer and other mesopotamian cultures for the layman.
instead of the regard those cultures should be held in for their ingenuity most amateurs read the all the bullshit by those 2 douche bags and expect to find evidence of alien influence.

Well.....we only have 8 planets.

Pluto got downgraded.

I guess Planet X needs to be
renamed to Planet IX.

Planets, planetoids, po-ta-to, po-tah-to.

There could be 1,000 of them but that doesn't mean there's one damn Annunaki living on any of them.

everything else aside, the underlying Story (emphasis Story) is that an incredibly loooooong time ago a small handful of beings with insanely loooong lifespans (seemingly immortal to us short lived humans) came to this planet from "somewhere else" (outer space?) and messed with us humans in a variety of ways over the course of time. That's the basic Plot of the Story. Different cultures tell the Story differently... but that one basic plot element pops up again and again in ancient Stories...

MAYBE that plot element is just the figment of someones imagination.
MAYBE that plot element is based upon an actual event.

Either way, it's a great Story, and I, for one, have yet to tire hearing it in all its various versions.

truthfully with the way things have been going and they way things were i believe that there was an unknown species of something that came here...they may not have built or done all things that people say couldnt be done by mankind...but i sure do believe that they pointed us in the right directions...a lot of ancient stories, fictional and none, that i have read all hint towards the fact that something came here from the heavens...some god or being that changed things... all in all i dont see why its such a big thing with people who cares if someone more advanced is out there, who cares about what they might or can do, i personally just like to worry about nothing, things happen for a reason and to just flow where the wind goes

I have more faith in a rock.

I have zero faith in lifeforms... stab you in the back the first chance they get and eat your liver out, that's that they do, offspring included.
