View Full Version : Pilot sights UFO
this is for Pac....dood, close all your doors and windows and turn off your lights, turn your central heating up to full, break a few glow-sticks and place them strategically around the room, de-tune your radio so as to provide background hum...voila !!
...you are back at NORAD HQ,dozing quietly half way through your shift, when all of a sudden your head-phones crackle and you hear.........
(there is no other available info on this clip, so Im relying on your "instinct" here man :batman: )

Seriously... isn't there ... stuff ... missing from that audio?
Sounds awfully clean for a conversation between ATC and a F-15, no?
agreed Lex and Cog,thanks.......but its Pac Im waiting for, where is the little devil? do you think the F15 pilot might be a local Reserve? hence the kinda un-millitary like RT procedure?......there is also a "tone" that comes in late in the clip, is that a diff ground operator keying in? , and I think there is at least 2 aircraft involved???

be interesting to see what the latest "equipment" is capable of, the OP is very "clean", grant you that, I spent a lot of time in commercial jump-seats,twice a week for about 15 months, HS 748's,always had a headset on, and was surprised at the clarity of the comms, compared to what I was used to in a maritime enviroment, if the OP is genuine(big "if" :) ) this event could have taken place directly above and around the ground station?.....making for the static -free result?

Don't know man...
listening to the thing now...
clarity is about right from what I've heard...
as far as the "non-military" lingo you guys were talking about...
We only do that to impress civillians lol
The "tone" sounds like what happens when you key your mic while someone else is talking...
If these are the secure radios, they'll go "boop" when that happens...
If its fake, someone took some time to get it just right.
big sloppy cyber kiss for pac........Ive commissioed Lala to deliver at the "meating"..(insert evil face: HERE)
The "tone" sounds like what happens when you key your mic while someone else is talking...
like a Heterodyne?

nah... the way that the encrypted radios are designed, you can't key the mic when an incoming transmission is present...
the small handheld ones for troops let out a "beeeeeep" (high pitched and irritating... especially with the earpiece in...)
the Larger ones for vehicles and such have a boooooop sound... lower tone and the likes... pretty similar to what's on the recording...
I don't know if the aircraft have something similar, but the tone made it sound like the guy recording was keying his mic while the other guy was talking.
cheers Pac, no half-sane fucker could expect any definitive result on this one, but thanks for putting it in perspective

glad I could help?
lol
Not sure how much help I was...
but, yah...
anytime?
Pac.....hands up everyone who has worked in millitary tracking? ( insert tumbleweed and haunting wind here),
here ya go Lex......must be a test run on a new design?, who still flys F111's? {looks like the chase-plane?).... the Aussies just upgraded to the F18 a few years back, thought they were the last to have operational F111's?.....then again the clip could be that old.....not going that fast either with thje wings in forward config? subsonic?.....must be an organized event with the tracking gear thats recording it?...do you recognize the smaller craft?

LOL thats not what the MWOC looks like man...
The picture I posted is the "modern" picture...
before the mid 90's... there was the BMEWS...
The control room to that looked like this:
http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/systems/images/clear-afb_radar.jpg
http://www.globalsecurity.org/space/facility/images/clear-afs_mip1.jpg
Here's the exterior of the old "tech site" or BMEWS
http://www.geocities.com/~billev/wacs/bmews.jpg
The MWOC is from the new, handy dandy SSPARS system that replaced the old BMEWS
http://www.radomes.org/museum/photos/recent/ClearAFSFPS-123.jpg
I kind of wish I wasn't such a good "Troop" while I was in... the old Tech site was still up and standing while I was stationed at clear... The old control room was being dismantled and shipped to the smithsonian... it was the last in-tact cold war ballistic missile site...
We had all sorts of fun poking around and exploring the tech site... the friggan place was HUGE... we found all sorts of cool stuff... even a bomb shelter full of old C-rats...
Alas, all I have are external pictures that I managed to sneak... and not a single pic of the SSPARS... thats kinda classified...
anyway... military tech isn't as "james bond-ish" as people tend to think...

Although, NORAD's control room and the HTACC/KCOIC at Osan look awefully James bondish
here is Norad:

The first picture you posted was a photo of the CP @ NORAD...
edit: oh shit. I just found out that the old CP from Cheyenne is now the alternate CP... they moved all major operations to Peterson AFB last year...

lol its an inside joke lex... I'm sure you remember this...
CNN stands for "Classified News Network".
Sometimes, we learn about our troop movements from CNN before we hear about em through our chain of command lol

Yeah, I know.
Just thought I'd point it out.

If so, pic is fairly recent.
