These are effective little units, quite nasty, they crush there heads . . . . at least they kill them quick :D

[offsite:3pmc9hhy]A breakthrough trap is set to revolutionise the control of stoats across the country.
Stoats take a deadly toll on New Zealand's native birds and plant life, but the traps pioneered by Wellington designers could eradicate stoats completely - and are about to go global.
Stoats might look small and harmless, but they attack native birds and have contributed to the disappearance of many native birds across the country.
Darren Peters, from the Department of Conservation's Predator Control, says stoats are responsible for the disappearance of native birds in Orongoogo.
"In the Orongoongo Valley in the middle of the Rimutakas, there are no Kiwi naturally. They disappeared a hundred years ago - stoats. There are no kaka - stoats."
Now the Henry trap, named after one of New Zealand's earliest conservationists Richard Henry, has been introduced by DOC in the wild to get rid of the pests.
The possibilities of the trap are tremendous, since it self re-sets 12 times, which means in time, DOC staff will be able to trap 12 times as many pests, on the same budget and hopefully eradicate the stoat.
"It puts pressure on the things we are targeting - stoats and rats - all the time because they're always set," says Peters.
The traps are so easy to carry and set up that they will also be used by community groups and volunteers.
The Henry trap was designed by three men, who studied industrial design together at Victoria University, before starting their own company, Goodnature Ltd.
Robert Greig, one of the three designers, says they have bigger versions of the trap and different species that they would like to start working on.
They are already working on a re-setting possum trap and have snared international interest.[/offsite:3pmc9hhy]
