[offsite:29lv8huw]Following confirmation by the French military that they definitely weren’t in the process of invading Somalia, the United States military is now confirming that it is, in fact, American forces that are pouring into the southern portion of the country in a helicopter-backed invasion.
US military officials confirmed to the Associated Press today that forces from the US Joint Special Operations Command had invaded the lawless African nation, and were the ones responsible for the attack on the tiny village near Barawa this morning that was the first staging ground of the attack.
What the officials wouldn’t comment on was exactly why the United States, which launched a failed “peacekeeping” operation in the nation in 1993 and backed an Ethiopian invasion in 2007, had decided to launch yet another foreign adventure, though media outlets speculated that it was probably something to do with al-Qaeda.
The United States has recently been supplying the self-described Somali “government” with “tons of arms,” according to the State Department. Yet reports on the ground suggest that forces loyal to this faction, which only controls a handful of city blocks in the capital city of Mogadishu, have generally just sold the US-supplied weapons on the open market.
Though without any concrete information about what the American military actually intends to do in Somalia it will be difficult to speculate about the size and scope of the invasion, with roughly 200,000 soldiers committed to Iraq and Afghanistan (and more escalations on the way in the later) it seems hard to imagine the nation is looking to commit to yet another long-term occupation.[/offsite:29lv8huw]
This is the only article I could find on this, but since I dont see this as being unrealistic, Ill post it anyhow.

US invades Somalia Sept 14th (http://www.examiner.com/x-22717-Charlotte-Nonpartisan-Examiner~y2009m9d14-United-States-invades-Somalia)
[offsite]It is official now. According to the Associated Press(US troops raid Somali town controlled by fighters (http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5g7OaI4_kjeHA-o4UhlmP7vlWmrrwD9ANARF80)), witnesses have spotted U.S. troops invading the town of Barawe, Somalia, near Mogadishu. Spelled out, the war on terror has found a new home front.
No longer will the United States simply occupy over 100 countries, including South Korea and Germany. The war on terror has moved troops from the United Nations and the United States to wars on the fronts of Afghanastan, Iraq, and now seemingly, to the small militant controlled nation of Somalia. All the while, the United States is keeping its eyes on North Korea, Russia, and China.
Despite promises from the Democratic party, who gained majority control of the House and Senate during the elections in 2006, to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, the war has since taken a turn toward expansion.
Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has now pledged U.S. military support (http://news.antiwar.com/2009/08/06/clinton-pledges-us-support-for-floundering-somali-govt/) to help keep the government in charge of the nation, which has been ruled mostly by anarchy since 1991.[/offsite:]

Actually... yes.
You didn't see the marines hitting the beach live on CNN this time, did you?
Say what you want about his domestic policy, Obama's foreign policy has been pretty fucking ruthless.

It may help our cover not showing the rag-tag guerrillas where we are this time.
I pray nothing goes as bad, it was supposed to be an aid mission, last time.
Maybe if were just really "invading" this time itll be different.

Now in the news: US pisses on all involved YET again.
I don't quite know what to think anymore.

The game is getting old. We need a break.
You think that if the atom bombs start dropping this time, they're gunna warn us?
I think some involved actually really DO wanna destroy the world, with themselves in it.

I think they are keen to keep the real estate, nukes are messy and not capable of random detonation......but they are spoilt for choice if they did want to "wipe the counter"........ :|

it cant be done mate, not in the conventional sense, the manipulation of our thoughts is done ever so subtly........you are not wrong to consider the situation could escalate, but its hollywood that images the bogeyman in our heads, ( I should add the Discovery and Nat Geo channels seem to have joined the circus)
its not healthy allowing that to happen.....resist at all cost! :smokin:
in the same way the Cuban missile crisis was the "control" vehicle of its day, so are the various "terrorists" :pound: of today
you know these things are true, you know the Federal Reserve is an illegal entity, but it isnt going away.
the communist threat was exposed for what it was by the research of Anthony Sutton (and others)...smoke and mirrors.
the US was happily trading away behind closed doors while telling its citizens the red hordes were poised and ready to start eating all your babies :pound: :pound: .....same shit, different generation man...S.N.A.F.U :)

I read somewhere that the U.S. military abandoned EMP research because they realized they were developing a technology that, if it escaped into the wild, would spell the complete demise of modern American warfighting.
Shit... I wish I could find that article...

yeah, I heard they have been secretly developing a "Beaver-Bomb" with the Canadians, lot of trouble though trying to keep the "Ugi" particle in a stesdy state, which is crucial part ot the "trigger" device, necessary for a successful detonation :batman:

Valid point, although the first time you use it the cat is out of the bag.
Black project or not, the laws of physics still apply.
An EMP requires an enormous amount of power. A field effect of 10ft would be require on the order of... what.... about 1,000,000 volts?
That's not quite something you can pack into a hand grenade.
A semi-truck, maybe...

I heard that "someone" had borrowed it to work on a little tree problem!
Emp's will go live as soon as they have 100% safe shielding worked out. Also wasn't there talk of directional EMP that could be used from a helichoppter?

[offsite:3lvzvj0k]The Power Line
What first attracts attention to Area 19 is a simple power line. It's visible on both the Las Vegas aircraft sectional chart and the Pahute Mesa 1:100,000 USGS map. It begins at an even larger line near Highway 95 at Lathrop Wells, and runs almost due north through the NTS, terminating in Area 19. It would appear to be one of the main power feeds for the entire NTS, with considerable load carrying capability. According to NTS maps, the line terminates in Area 19 as a 34.5 kilovolt line at a 1,000 KVA substation. Where the power goes from there is not shown.
Its point of termination is also worth a closer look. The maps show the line ending in the center of an unusual double ring of roads, a configuration not seen in other areas of the NTS. Strangely, there is no facility listed on any NTS document, at least that I've seen, at the line's termination. Officially there just isn't anything there. Yet aerial and satellite photos do indeed some "something" there. Finally, the very boundaries of Area 19 seem to be drawn "around" where the power line terminates. The location is absolutely centered in the middle of the northerly "bulge" of the Area 19 boundary.[/offsite:3lvzvj0k]

[offsite:3vzc692d]Varieties of EMP Explosions
There are three main types of explosions to consider when examining the effects of the electromagnetic pulse. These are near-surface busts, mediumaltitude bursts, and high-altitude bursts. Near-surface bursts are those at altitudes up to 1.2 miles, medium-altitude bursts range from 1.2 miles to 19 miles, and high-altitude bursts are those above 19 miles. These altitudes are only rough guidelines, but a better understanding of where each occurs will be gained after examining each type of burst briefly.(6) The greatest effect on surface bursts is caused by the ground. Unlike in the air, the gamma rays cannot escape the blast in all directions. For this reason, near-surface bursts are also in this category. Although they may not be on the ground, they have similar effects. The ground absorbs many of the gamma rays. This produces an asymmetric field. The resulting field is very similar to that of a hemisphere that is radiating upward. The electrons also are able to
return to the burst point through the ground. This makes the area near the center of the burst contain a high concentration of highly ionized particles. This net movement of electrons creates current loops that generate a magnetic field running around the burst point. This is the basic model of a near-surface burst.(7) When the nuclear explosion occurs in the medium-altitude range, the effects of the ground are much. A medium-altitude range would be away from the ground but below the upper atmosphere. As the height of the burst increases, the asymmetry of the field produced decreases.
However, the asymmetry increases, after a point, with altitude due to changes in the atmospheric density. This asymmetry can be seen in Figure One. Figure One--Approximate variation of an asymmetry factor relative to a surface burst as a function of altitude8 Since the ground is absent, the magnetic field produced in near-surface bursts will be absent. The electric fields will be similar to those of nearsurface bursts.(9) High-altitude electromagnetic pulses (HEMP) produced by high-altitude bursts occur in an area of the atmosphere where the density of the air is low. Because of this, the gamma rays can travel very far before they are absorbed. These rays travel downward into the increasingly dense atmosphere. Here, they interact with the air to form ions as previously described.
This region, called the deposition or source region, is roughly circular. It is thick in the middle and thinner toward the edges. It extends horizontally very far creating source regions that are over 1000 miles in diameter.(10) The size of it depends on the height of the burst and the yield of the weapon. The EMP in this source region gets deflected downward towards the earth due to the earth’s magnetic field. Although the fields produced from a high-altitude burst are not as great as those for a near-surface burst, they affect a much larger area.(11) Because of this huge potential, high-altitude bursts could be the most dangerous type of EMP.[/offsite:3vzc692d]
