Did anyone see the VH1 awards this weekend? I'm starting to think there is something to those conspiracy theories.

1. At one point Jack Black tells the crowd to pray to satan and raise the horns.

2. Lady Gaga mind fuck performance. Not what children should watch. Involved a headpiece that reminded me of an owl and a show that resembled a sacrifice/suicide.

3. All the music preaching pure ignorance.

4. Announcer joking about drugging a woman and rapping her.

5. Entire backdrop looked demonic.

You may be thinking I am overreacting to those events. But in actuality, I believe negative forces mask themselves in the entertainment industry.

Look at the event as a whole. Don not think about the individual, but think about them as a population. It's one sinful clusterfuck.

But that is no reason to hide our children from her like she's some kind of evil spreading, offensive disease. If we don't expose our children and educate them about these things it's then that they become influencable and it's then that they start to love them. Eminem, censored, loved by kids, Madonna, censored, frowned upon, loved by kids of her generation, Lady Gaga, Marilyn Manson, the list goes on and on.

The thing kids don’t share with adults is when something new and shocking (like Lady Gaga in some respects) hits the market they don’t fear it like a bunch of fucking pussy middleaged dipshits. This is entirely out of context. Could be a reference to a specific incident, could have been a routine if the announcer was a comedian or could simply be a piece of off-hand black humour. Or he could be making light of rape, thus encouraging the weak minded to go out there and get raping.

I suspect though, that it was one of the first three options, because those that work in the public eye tend not to go around suggesting we rape people. Your taking issue here is massively over sensitive. Black humour is one of those things employed to get you through dark times and over unpleasant issues.

As someone who's been in music since 1965 I can sympathise with a lot of Apollo's stuff. But my main problem is the way people read so much into music, as if its a story or a prophecy. In my opinion (and knowledge) most lyrics are written from a basic idea or a lyric line that just 'comes to you'. True, some darker bands write lyrics as some sort of story to warn people or tell a story but to most, its just a way to earn a living. The words mean little or nothing for many songwriters. Im not talking about Dylan or James Taylor or people like that, just the majority of the mass of music out there.
I can clearly remember John Lennon arguing with a fan in Ronnie Scotts one night, about his song lyrics. "Fuck man, theyre just words I string together, they dont actually mean anything" though I suspect some of his later stuff had a lot more meaning for him.
And Lady Gaga, apart from anything else, she/he is a rather incredible pianist. I actually like Lady Gaga music though, great stuff same as Jamie Cullum and Paolo Nuttini.
