Mysterious UFO Crashes Into the Ottawa River Monday Night (http://www.inquisitr.com/31081/mysterious-ufo-crashes-into-the-ottawa-river-monday-night/)

[offsite:24iw882h]Dozens of residents of Canada’s capital city, Ottawa Ontario and nearby Gatineau, Que., witnessed an object streak across the night sky at about 10pm local time Monday night and crash into the Ottawa River with a “thunderous boom.”

The object had lights on it and appeared to change course several times, like a small plane struggling to stay airborn, before it hit the water.

It was such a sight that emergency rescue and search crews in the area sprung into action and began searching the area using sophisticated sonars and underwater cameras to try and figure out what the object was. Even helicopters from the Canadian Forces Base (CFB) in nearby Trenton took part. On Tuesday at 1:30pm, they discovered an object about 9 meters (30 feet) below the surface, but because of currents and nearby rapids, sending divers down would be extremely dangerous since they would be instantly swept away by the currents.

The mystery? Authorities and residents have no idea what this object laying at the bottom of the river is. There are no planes missing from the area, no other aircraft like helicopters, etc. are missing. There is no derbis, no oil slick and even space agencies that were contacted said nothing disappeared from orbit.[/offsite:24iw882h]

Did UFO crash into Ottawa River? (http://www.wellandtribune.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=1676420)

Not much more info. For now, it's definitely unidentified. Except now it's a USO, not a UFO.

'nother article: UFO expert finds crash 'strange' (http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Canada/2009/07/29/10296271-sun.html)

Not much to it but it does make the point that the area involved has a history.

YouTube only has videos of some orb thing from another sighting with text from the news article on the current event; some youTard trying to tie the two separate events together?

Something else:

[offsite:2w3fpk5f]Authorities said Tuesday afternoon that they had called off their search of the Ottawa River following an overnight sighting of unusual, bright lights near the Deschenes Rapids.

According to an Ottawa Police Service media release, Ottawa and Gatineau police, fire services, paramedics and Canadian Forces Base Trenton's search and rescue team called off their search Tuesday afternoon.

Const. Alain Boucher said Ottawa police received several reports that lights were seen travelling at high speeds on the Ottawa River, which could indicate that an aircraft crashed near the rapids at the Britannia Yacht Club about 10 p.m. on Monday.

Boucher said there were also reports that some witnesses heard a loud bang shortly after seeing the lights.

Insp. Paul Gallant, an Ottawa police spokesperson, said the recovery effort had turned up a large object, but police later said that the object didn't appear to be a missing plane.

Some reports indicated the lights appeared to be a plane, he said. After contacting several airports in the area, police have no reports of a missing plane or any missing pilot, he said.

There has also been no sign of wreckage in the area, Boucher added.

The rapids were not searched overnight due to safety concerns, but police said Tuesday afternoon that they were sending a camera 10 metres under water to investigate the object.

The National Defence co-ordinator had sent out a plane to look in the area, Boucher said. A military helicopter was also in the area, and search and rescue teams were on site.
Officials said the search had ended, but that if a report of a missing plane is filed, they could resume their recovery mission.
