Interesting, but just a long ad for
CSETI and the Disclosure Project.
Dr. Greer (http://www.ufowatchdog.com/greer_seti.html) just got done speaking.

You can't form a cult without extracting money from the gullible for the privilege of espousing your dogma.
Greer is little more than a L. Ron Hubbard wannabe.
That and the fact that I find UFOlogists that are metrosexual to be disingenuous from the get-go.

Over time, I have come to the same opinion about many ufologists...including Greer.
It's about the Money

Agreed. He loves to meditate on the top of bottles :alien:
That does not applay to Alex Collier however. This dude talks like once every 10 years and his book "defending sacret grounds" is free for download. And he does not like to talk at all about this things in the open, so why is he telling at all?
Sure, you'll will shout he's a scam..., but, how comes that during my researches (now about 15 years) I find more and more people/contactees/insiders that indirectly back is story up? Weird!
Loved what Bob Dean had to say, this person actually cares for humanity. Despite his planet X bullshit.
BTW, the conference is up again and running, there is just a little break right now.

Greer could make more money working for one year in a hospital emergency dept. than he'll make in a lifetime in Ufology. It's not about money. There are only a hand-full of researchers who actually profit from the field. Now that's not to say there aren't those who'd like to make some dough off the field or that the field isn't suffused with charlatans and lairs- There are and it is. But for every Bill Byrnes or a John Lear there's a John Mack and a David Jacobs- serious researchers promoting the science for itself rather than self promotion. So when Mur says this:
Over time, I have come to the same opinion about many ufologists...including Greer.
It's about the Moneyin his own mind the emphasis is on the word 'many.' There are 'many.' No denying that. But certainly it is not 'all.'

Reading of John Lear promoting any kind of science gave me stupid chills.

My take on Greer is that he's sincere in his beliefs but he's also nuts.

Building something that outlives yourself is a powerful motivator for some folks, money not withstanding.
If had Greer's gig and all I got out of it was a slice of internet profile and enough money for a tank of gas now and then I'd be satisfied.
I mean... you were watching him stream live over the internet not too long ago, no?
Everybody likes to have an audience.
