View Full Version : Where Is The Flag's Shadow?

Been reading the other debunking threads in here and have been perplexed about this one particular pic:
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff284/CanuckyDucky/moonflag.jpg
Notice everything else has a shadow to the right, but in this case, the flag's shadow seems to be missing
I've talked with others who say that it's there, but going in the wrong direction (very thin line/left side)
If this is the case, somebody made a major boo boo when 'touching up the photo'.
*Rings the dinner bell*
Let the feeding frenzy commence :D

If you look at the shadows, the light is coming from a low angle...
The surface of the moon being bright, would obscure the shadow from the flag pole...
The flag shadow itself... is out of the shot... somewhere to the right of the frame...

If pretty much everything else casts a shadow (regardless of low angle lighting) but still makes shadows, then there should be 'something' of a shadow beside the flag.
The flag isn't obscured imo, it's taking the full brunt of the surrounding light; as with many other objects. If the flag was in the lander's shadow, I could understand what you're getting at.
The smallest of rocks and crevices are casting dark spots to their right.
Hmmmm....

The flag will have a shadow...
The flagpole probably won't.
If you hold a pencil in your hand the shadow of the pencil will be obsured on the floor...
but either way...
Low angle... the shadow of the flag itself is out of the frame...

My question is, why are all the other shadows going in different directions, like it was a very close, central light?
Most notable in the first pic.

To paraphrase Springer's former tag- smartest thing the guy ever said- and it still applies: 'Never argue with an idiot. She'll (he'll) drag you down to her own level and beat you by experience.'

I could give 2 craps less if they landed, or not.
But every picture looks like crap, and to me it looks like shadows arent where they should be.
The one of the landing vehicle is at one angle, and the astronauts at another.
If the lights coming from something more that 20 ft away, theyd be perpendicular to each other.
The ground is fairly bumpy, but relatively flat enought for the shadows to stay at the same tangent.

If man didn't land on the moon... and everybody knew that we're stuck here for a while with each other.... I wonder where morale would be?

First of all, I want to thank Pack and HP for their help. Much appreciated :D
What I was expecting to see with regards to the flag's shadow was explained properly by Pack. HP provided some pretty interesting info, that I'll keep handy for future notice.
http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff284/CanuckyDucky/moonflag3.jpg
The red line is where I expected to see the shadow.
The two yellow lines are what I thought was as something off to the left (past the edge of the photo), casting their own shadows, and had extended to the area right before the flag.
The ground is fairly bumpy, but relatively flat enought for the shadows to stay at the same tangent.
It is claimed a slope at the landing sight causes the shadows to be different lengths. And single shadows means one light source.

Do you wanna be stuck here with all of that? I wanna die believing that we'll get outta here.
I believe that belief is more important than truth, because... you can doubt belief.
All knowledge comes to an end when truth is revealed. Knowledge is simply the belief in a persistent enough lie. Please, for the love of Everything, never unify everything into one truth.
You can't doubt truth. You can never escape truth. The only thing to do is go insane with anything other than truth as long as you possibly can.
Science is a double-edged sword. It has much dogma, but it is at times, especially in recent times, so close to a unified grand theory that to truly have faith in it is almost like the suicide of all existence. Either way, you bleed. Wit the former, you bleed for a while and then move on. With the latter, you bleed eternally dead.
Just my opinion at this moment. It will most likely change. Thank God.

Its not really the lengths I see, as much the angles.
If you follow the landing crafts shadow, the astronauts, and the rock, they should be perpendicular to each other.
Look outside your house in the sun, each shadow of almost every object in your yard is equi-distant to each other along whatever length they travel, their heights being a factor in their length itself.
The closer the source of light gets to the object the shadow is cast by, the more skewed the tangents become.
A small light source fairly close will make them get closer or further apart at the end of the shadow itself.
Indiee, I do really hope everything gets better.
Better for one group, isnt better for another.
The whole planet cant be happy at the same time.
Maybe there will be a happy medium in our lifetime...
