View Full Version : Could moon landings have been faked? Some still think so

This is a CNN news story today... Here's the article:
[offsite=http://www.cnn.com/2009/TECH/space/07/17/moon.landing.hoax/index.html:2ex05y4g](CNN) -- It captivated millions of people around the world for eight days in the summer of 1969. It brought glory to the embattled U.S. space program and inspired beliefs that anything was possible.
It's arguably the greatest technological feat of the 20th century.
And to some, it was all a lie.
Forty years after Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon, a small cult of conspiracy theorists maintains the historic event -- and the five subsequent Apollo moon landings -- were staged. These people believe NASA fabricated the landings to trump their Soviet rivals and fulfill President Kennedy's goal of ferrying humans safely to and from the moon by the end of the 1960s.
"I do know the moon landings were faked," said crusading filmmaker Bart Sibrel, whose aggressive interview tactics once provoked Aldrin to punch him in the face. "I'd bet my life on it.[/offsite:2ex05y4g]
More at source.
Anyway, what is the biggest thing that stands out in your mind reading that article?
Not one mention of John Lear
That's gotta hurt...
Too fuckin' crazy for CNN I imagine!!!
In related news: CNN receives DMCA Take Down Notice from ATS's Bill Irvine...
Apparently he owns the rights to the word "conspiracy" and any of the crackpot theories out there...

Great post, Packer. Key is this:
Kaysing theorized NASA sent the Apollo 11 astronauts up in a rocket until it was out of sight, then transferred the lunar capsule and its three passengers to a military cargo plane that dropped the capsule eight days later in the Pacific, where it was recovered. In the meantime, he believed, NASA officials filmed the "moon landing" at Area 51, the high-security military base in the Nevada desert, and brainwashed the astronauts to ensure their cooperation. Crazy shit, no doubt. But have a look at Duck's thread concerning the impossibility of us humans to achieve anything extraordinary without some sort of supernatural help. http://www.amkon.net/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=7509 This sort of assholery will always be with us, unfortunately.
Further on from the same article-
But Stuart Robbins, a Ph.D. candidate in astrophysics at the University of Colorado who gives lectures defending NASA from Apollo hoax theorists, believes their influence can be harmful.
"If people don't think we were able to go to the moon, then they don't believe in the ingenuity of human achievement," he said. "Going to the moon and returning astronauts safely back to Earth is arguably one of the most profound achievements in human history, and so when people simply believe it was a hoax, they lose out on that shared experience and doubt what humans can do."
Nihilists like the Duck and her ilk are wont to measure the possibilities of human achievement upon the basis of their own inadequacy. Sad and pathetic... A reading of both of these threads in their entirety is called for.
[quote:1wn4wclm]they were able to do so because of their wonderful ingenuity.
Of course that is obviously true. The arrogant stupidity betrayed by some of the posts on this thread blows my mind. Technology lost in the flood?? Mysterious supernatural interventions?? I guess that's why the gray aliens had to be recruited to build the Pantheon- not to mention St. Peter's. It's obvious that those dumb Romans and their ancestors were incapable of pulling it off after that damned flood wiped out all the smart people. Workers and engineers incapable of positioning heavy stone shapes? Obviously they could and did- as evidenced by the monuments they left us. The simple fact that you may be too ignorant and helpless to even construct a simple house does not mean that all people, of all times, share those same decadent qualities.[/quote:1wn4wclm]

Of course, Area51 fits neatly withn the plot.
What conspracy theory would be complete without Area51?
See what you did, AmKon? I've become a skeptic.
Well, that don't mean I don't get way out there... but why on Earth would they stage the Moon Landing if supposedly, they've had Nazi built space vehicles since the 40s? Something doesn't add up.
Either we're super advanced on a high level,or we're dumb fucks that have to fake space travel.... which is it?
What about Serpo. If they were ferrying humans in the 60s, may be they took the astronauts to the moon to pick up some rocks and a photo op.

I don't think ducky was disputing whether humans accomplished alot of these things, I think she was
questioning how they achieved them.
On that note I wouldn't classify her as sad and pathetic,(I just speak for that particular thread only)
Ill add that I don't remember her asking for an opinion from you directly but I'm sure she enjoys your

Something later crossed my mind.
Doe's anybody know who set the camera or camera's up before the so called Broadcast from our Moon?
The Big one is, did anybody see a camera SHOT of our beautiful planet Earth while these astronauts where on the Moon in 1969?
Such a photo opportunity missed, after all look at how much they show us our Planet Earth, via the space shuttle,
The landing in 69 for me was FAKE.

They went back... Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 all successfully landed on the moon...
After Apollo 17, the U.S. space program switched gears... and started doing space station stuff...
Skylab. that didn't go so well.

There was a camera attached to the LEM for the first shots.

Thankyou!
Nice to see that people are actually paying attention to what I say ~ in a proper light :D
It's people like BE that don't fuckin care to be civil to others one iota....no matter what. It's not in his blood. Fuckin dickhead. He miscontrues what others say, turns it around to benefit (his mood at the time), all the while missing any pertinent info that was said.
Speaking of?
He got caught up in his own little douchy world not too long ago, and others on this forum had to *ahem* correct him to what 'was actually being said'. He knows the thread.
I once asked if he wanted to talk with me on skype, but (no suprise) he declined. Whatever. Something to the effect of, "we don't speak the same language" (Didn't give the exact words - PM's are private) After much thought, I realized that we DO speak the same 'English' language, but he uses a forked/fucked tongue. Therefore, ergo, we are two sides of the same coin, but at opposite spectrums. Non mon défaut, he'; s un abruti
Anyways, should he ever come up with something intelligent in his posts in the next while, I might give him a smite. Give credit where credit is due. I don't have a prob with that at all :D
Until then, he can beat his poor old fuckin crotchedy brow on what next he's gonna crucify me with. Can't wait....lololol :P
Right on your heels old man
BTW? Luv ya BE!!!!!!!!!!
You can 'make my day' any day of the year sweetheart. The more you and I get into it, the stronger I get

Sometimes. Mabey in the miniscule. You have a heart like anyone else. But for the most part, I think you just 'say it like it is'. The other 90%...you reach for the dictionary/encyclopedia/etc, and integrate that into your posts. I hear you got a lot of schooling in your lifetime. void of patience with those that don't agree with you; intelectually adept nonetheless. I wouldn't expect you or anyone else to say anything kind/true about me. We're not here to stroke each other's egos...or are we?

I can't say the moon landing didn't happen, but then again i can't say for certain that it did. My biggest question is this...For such a momentous feat such as this, you would think that they would have put on some kind of spectacle from the moon that the people down on earth could have witnessed.

i can't say for certain that it did.In those days they never figured the people of earth would be stupid enough to deny the evidence of their own eyes. Apparently they were wrong about 25% of them.
