View Full Version : Imageshack hacked
[offsite=http://it.slashdot.org/story/09/07/11/1430249/ImageShack-Hacked-Security-Groups-Threatened?from=rss:28winyfa]Last night a group calling themselves 'Anti-Sec' hacked ImageShack, one of the largest image hosting sites on the web, and replaced many of the site's hosted pictures with one of their own, which detailed their manifesto. The group's grievance is against full-disclosure of exploits, an issue that was debated recently after a presentation on an ATM exploit was canceled. Anti-Sec simply wants the practice within security circles to end, and they've promised to cause 'mayhem and destruction' if it doesn't. These people are taking direct aim against a sect of the IT industry who is already armed to fight them ... but they also already know that. It should be interesting to see how this plays out.[/offsite:28winyfa]

LOL not fascist really...
These guys have been around for at least 3-4 years... its been a growing movement... this is just one of the first "black hat" moves they've done...
I'm trying to figure out who these guys are... mostly, I want to see if they are linked to the big name hosting sites... (go daddy etc.)
I don't have any proof yet... just a hunch...

It is mostly full of posers and people who like to pretend they are ultra 1337 hackers
But it is where people go to build a 'fan base' for their real hacking escapades

I'd hardly call a bunch of bored perverts busting into people's ex-girlfriend's imageshack and photobucket accounts, "hacking".

I still think its about time that we stop calling Black hatters "Hackers".
Hacker, as any old computer guy will remember, doesn't mean the same thing anymore...
Instead of White, Gray, and Black hat... Its time to change the names...
White hats are hackers too... but they take offense to being called "hackers" anymore... when the term originally was a compliment...
I'm a little bit gray... so I don't give a fuck LOL
I think the term changed around the time ascii art made it to signatures.

Wait I don't understand. How does keeping those exploits to themselves help with security? If nobody knows about it, how can it (or why should it) be fixed?

Cog,is the Bitchkoma talking sense though, that is the question.
I think they mean keep it within the companies that have the problem. But, as mentioned, where would the need for speed, entering into the solution.

The threat is over. The hackers found the picture they were looking for and nuked it.
