Goldman code spy out on bail
Posted on Jul 8, 2009
Sergey Aleynikov – a Russian computer programmer who started working at Goldman Sachs in May 2007 and was recently accused of stealing code from the company – was released on $750,000 bail. In addition to the ¾ mill, Aleynikov’s movement has been severely restricted – he had to give up his passport, and he’s not even allowed to travel outside the New York metro area.
Officially, he’s been charged with fraud and theft of trade secrets, and while he awaits his trial, he may not access any of the data he’s been accused of stealing. His computer use is also under surveillance.
