However, Iranian news agencies say there are still technical problems.
Text messaging and social networks were widely used by protesters in mass rallies following the election.

Surely the wankers at the top must have known such a move would only serve to make them look bad, and would be seized upon by their opponents?
They'll claim it was to stop enemy agents stirring up the masses, no doubt, but it seems if such agents were on the ground stirring things up, they did so just fine without the comms.
