[offsite:2ij4qq6s]The UK has the ability to launch cyber attacks but does not use it for industrial espionage like some other countries, minister Lord West has said.
He refused to be drawn on whether it was used for military purposes.
He was speaking as the government launched a new cyber security strategy aimed at combating online attacks.[/offsite:2ij4qq6s]

Did anyone actually doubt that the UK could do this? Does it warrant such an admission? Or is this a subtle "GTFO" to potential online aggressors?
Anyways, I find it interesting that China and Russia are named in that article as being responsible for numerous attacks on the UK. With typical British politeness though, we see the diplomatic equivelant of "I say old chap, I'd rather you didn't try and hack one's internet..." lol.
But if the UK is getting constant strikes from the two core members of SCO, it must be just as bad for countries like Canada, Germany, etc, and even worse for the US. We've already seen Russia strike out across the Internet at an enemy state with devastating power.
This made me laugh:
[offsite:2ij4qq6s]...the government had recruited a team of former hackers for its new Cyber Security Operations Centre, based at the government's secret listening post GCHQ, in Cheltenham, to help it fight back.[/offsite:2ij4qq6s]
Secret, you say?
