Serpo typewriter

The first thing that will be stated after this post is that Serpo personnel took an electric IBM typewriter with them.

One of those team members must have surmised that a machine powered only by the fingers might be quite useful. These machines were good enough for the reporters of the world to log adventures so why not for that journey also. I suppose it could have been the personal typewriter for one of the members. May be we can ask one of them about it.

The reason I believe this is a piece of equipment from that exploration team is that what was found in it. As kids we found this case tucked away in a closet. We opened it to find a typewriter. There was a piece of paper under the clip in the case top. Written on it was the word 'serpo'. We always thought it was the original owner's name. It wasn't until the Serpo story surface that I realized what that word stood for. Not a person but a project. The paper has long since been lost but the typewriter still exists.

My parents are now deceased so I can't ask them about the source of the machine. My dad was a world traveler in his work so he might have been who acquired it. Maybe a relative passed it on to one of them.

I suppose if someone can come up with some typed Serpo documents we could compare and look for some matching features in the type. The ribbon is dried out but I suspect new one can be found.
