This could be propaganda... or this could be real... either way, this doesn't bode well...

Watch Israel now...

[offsite=http://www.israeltoday.co.il/default.aspx?tabid=79:13c6fgyt]Is Hamas helping to quell Iran riots?

Several Iranians caught up in the post-presidential election rioting in Tehran told The Jerusalem Post on Wednesday that armed Arab forces aligned with the Palestinian terror group Hamas are playing an active role in suppressing the supporters of Mir Mousavi, who is believed to have lost a rigged election to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Some 20 Iranians have been killed so far at protest rallies that have now spread to other major Iranian cities. People who say they witnessed some of the killings insist they were carried out by Palestinian gunmen.

"The most important thing that I believe people outside of Iran should be aware of is the participation of Palestinian forces in these riots," said one young man.

Another man said he hoped Israel would soon "come to its senses" and deal ruthlessly with "those Palestinian animals."

When asked by the Post if perhaps the Arab gunmen he had seen could have been Lebanese terrorists aligned with Hizballah, he replied that on the streets of Tehran it is no secret - Arab forces aligned with Hamas are operating in the city on behalf of the regime.

Hamas, for its part, has publicly welcomed Ahmadinejad's reelection. The group has long been known to receive arms and funding from Iran, and Hamas terrorists often receive training in the Islamic Republic before returning to the Gaza Strip.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Wednesday cautioned those in the international community against getting too gung-ho about backing Ahmadinejad's opponent. In an interview with Army Radio, Barak noted that Mir Mousavi is no less a fundamentalist Islamic demagogue than Ahmadinejad, and that his presidency would almost certainly not mark the end of Iran's nuclear program.

Barak's remarks echoed those of US President Barack Obama a day earlier, when he reminded reporters that Ahmadinejad and Mousavi share very similar views and policies, especially regarding Iran's quest for nuclear weapons.[/offsite:13c6fgyt]

Sigh...

this is going to play out like a soap opera isn't it...

Well, propaganda or no... it means that someone is trying to drag us into this conflict...

Could be Israel (two enemies, one fight), Russia (They've backed the Iranian Gov't) or even Iran... someone could have leaked that story that Israeli media is all to happy to run, or they could have dreamed it up themselves...

Either way, the story has oozed its way over to some mediocre coverage in the UK...

And now the Wall Street Journal is reporting it...

Its going to be covered by the MSM eventually... and the public sentiment will sway in the direction the artist desired...

True or not... this is a very bad scenario.

Suppose Israel gets involved?

We've been in bed with Israel for 50 years now...

Not just in bed for some mutual gratification...

50 years of spooning and love letters... and now a president can't even get elected in the U.S. unless he swears to the public he's got some sort of undying devotion to protecting Israel...

Holy shit! You need to put the fucking Kool aid down. Let's see, George Bush removed Iran's greatest external threat, and provided them with an example of democracy next door, and dinner jacket stole the election in a manner obvious to everyone outside the White House. But you think a few weak words by a Chicago Nobody started the revolution?

Question, when Obama's inaction gets all these people killed, will you still claim credit for him?

Once it becomes clear which side will be victorious, only then will Barry come out to give support.

If it looks like the Mullah's are winning, Barry will say something like Moussavi was "confused" and "disoriented." If on the other hand, the protesters win, Barry will claim full credit for creating peace in our time.

How lucky the world is to be have been given this Glorious Leader who is shrewd enough to hedge his bets down to the wire.

After his speech and admission that the U.S. secretly affected Iranian politics in the past, if Obama decides to get involved at all, The Iranian people will not accept him... No matter who "wins".

He's doing the smart thing... he timed his speech perfectly, and said just the right shit to be able to get the people of Iran to tell the Mullahs what they want... It was actually a pretty remarkable PR acheivement... (Obama is an EXCELLENT propagandist, possibly the best in decades that's been in office)

Obama has stacked the deck so that the united states can't intervene... no matter who's "winning"

You truly think his speech had an affect on that election? Do me a favor Pack... Quote me a line or two from this "inspirational speech" that would enbolden the people of Iran to revolt. Let me save you the time, you can't.

Which leaves me wondering... How does not mentioning the Iranian people in his Cairo speech inspire them to action?

Also, how does not mentioning them for three days after this revolt began, continue to inspire them?

Let me guess, seeming to support the mullahs by hedging and caveats inspired them still further?

The man is an inspiration, even when silent.

And even when he's not showing power, soft or any other kind, he's in fact showing the greatest power of all -- LOVE.

Fucking A, all I've seen is that they're nearly begging for some show of support from Obama, which kind of suggests the Cairo speech didn't really do it for them. And even then, do you really believe the revolt would be happening if dinner jacket hadn't stolen the election in a manner that was obvious to everyone? The true inspiration for this revolt is the utter incompetence of the mullahs' in declaring a winner when barely enough time had lapsed to count a single precint.

Once again, you fuckers need to put the fucking kool aid down.

The Iranian people will not accept him... No matter who "wins". I have to disagree with that. They've already accepted him and understand that, while he supports them, he's reluctant to give the Mullah's an easy target. The people of Iran are savvy, aware and forever intellectually curious. Don't sell them short.

Unless you have evidence that Obama's speech is a direct cause of this revolution, you are talking out of your ass.

The American colonists didn't just decide in July 1776 to declare independence, it was the culmination of a process that had been building for 13 years. Attributing this mass demonstration to a 30 minute speech in Cairo a couple of weeks ago is the height of projection and ignorance.

LOL nass... you haven't read all my stuff on Obama apparently... no kool-aide here...

The inspiration in the speech came when Obama offered to open a dialoga for peaceful talks with the world of Islam... He told the people of Iran that he would support them and their nuclear program for peaceful use (i.e. nuclear power plants).

His speech offering the olive branch made Ahmadinejad look like an asshole... He has been running the platform of "america is just a buncha dicks" for years... That speech was aimed specifically at the people... not the governments of the middle east...

Obama was the first modern president to speak to muslims with respect... look at his speech... he never once mentions "terrorism". When is the last time you heard a speech without the word "terror" or "terrorists"? Instead he calls them "extremists". The muslim world thinks that when we say "Terrorism" that we really are saying "Muslims".

Seriously man... that Cairo speech was genius... It was a Public Relations wet dream... everything was worded so specifically...

Now you might need to stop getting your political news from Rush Limbaugh and Faux news... You're falling for the rhetoric Nass... you're believing the bullshit spewed out, and repeating conservative talking points left and right... Take a step back, and conduct your own analysis of the situation...

I see what you did there... I never once suggested that it was the sole inspiration... There are many contributing factors... however, judging by how the protesters are looking toward Obama and the U.S. for support, I would say that it had an effect... they feel like Obama is going to come charging in like a superhero and save the day.

I would say most politicians feel they are doing what is in the country's best interest, they just differ on the methods needed to achieve what is best... Ron Paul IMHO probably has the best method in mind... But I don't think all the other fuckheads have malicious intent... They just have piss poor ideas.

NEW DEVELOPMENT!!!

From here:http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31422044/ns/world_news-mideastn_africa/

Meanwhile, state radio said Thursday that the council has invited the three defeated candidates in the election — Mousavi, Mehdi Karroubi and Mohsen Rezaf — to a meeting on Saturday to discuss their complaints.

Another pivotal figure in the escalating drama is former President Hashemi Rafsanjani, who heads the Assembly of Experts — a cleric-run body that is empowered to dismiss the supreme leader.

This could mark the end of the Supreme Leader. By the end of the day on Saturday the people of Iran may well have a new Supreme Leader who will call for a new election. Rafsanjani may be a corrupt cad but he knows which way the wind blows. I suspect that Mohamed Khatami may have a hand in this as well. Khatami is a good man. The People are on the verge of victory!

Nah- it's a dumb story.

There is a secret Grand Obama Strategy however. If the US is successful in midwifing the Khatami faction in Iran- Obama will make a personal visit to Tehran and seal the peace. At that point Iran inherits the Iraq war due its alliance with the Iraqi Shia. The fight against the Sunni factions (ncluding the Binny Boyz) becomes their fight in a grand alliance with the US, all of Europe, Pak, India and Russia. Binny's head is not far from the pike. Barack is no man to trifle with- he's no rope-doped Bush. If this was Bush, the press would be having a field day.If this were Bush, the same amount of nothing would have happened as a result.

Need I remind you of the federal prosecutors that were illegally fired?

Stop trying to convince yourself there's a difference beyond skin color and reading level of our past and current Presidents.

Well Cog, if Bush broke a law firing those federal prosecutors, I guess that means Clinton did also? And which law is that by the way?

Damnit... I'm drawing a blank.

There was a law passed in the 19th century to preserve the continuity of the federal government between elections by removing the ability of the Executive branch to terminate the employment of non-appointed officials without due cause.

The problem was that every election even the county postmasters were being changed for folks that were in ideological agreement with the incoming administration.

Was it during Grant's administration.... shit I can't remember. I'll see if I can't find the name of it.

This thing is far from over. We're watching the power of the state dissipate before our eyes. Mark this time- it's a model for the world. It's owing to the sea change in American polity which gave hope to the disposed all over the planet. These are truly exciting times. It's the beginning of imaginative overcoming.

The people may have spoken, but what was it that they said, exactly?

Khatami is a western puppet and apologist.

The only thing such actions will bring is the delay of the riots.

Mousavi has never disavowed the policies of the Revolutionary Council. He has not backed away from a nuclear armed Iran. He has not stated that Israel (or Jews) have the right to exist.

So he said that the Holocaust happened and that Hamas was beneath their support. Wow. Earthshaking.

There's no reason to have faith that it means anything more substantial than changing Obama for Bush.

Iraq war? Still going.
Gitmo? Still open.
War crimes investigations? Not happening.
Political cronyism? Still the way of Washington.

The most impressive aspect, to me, of this Persian uprising is its lack of ideology. ideology is a trap. who knows what will come of it? the essential thrust of it all is anarchistic. will it become the world's first syndicalist society? certainly we can't know. i do know that i thoroughly respect the courage that i'm witnessing. oh- and by the way- saying that Khatami is an american puppet is simply to buy into the propaganda of the reactionary regime that defeated him with precisely that slogan.

Web Weapons Connect A Revolution In Iran (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/06/17/eveningnews/main5094474.shtml?tag=cbsContent;cbsCarousel)

[offsite:2coi5awm]The Iranian government's crackdown on the media - aimed at choking off protests - has been defeated by computer keystrokes.

The Internet is awash with anger, fueled by the disputed election, reports CBS News correspondent Bob Orr.

Gunshots can be heard in a YouTube video, which shows an injured protestor being carried to safety.

On the social networking site Facebook, where Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei appears to have his own page, there is a scene with demonstrators yelling at police.

But the frontline in this cyber-driven revolt may be Twitter where anonymous protestors and sympathizers are trading short messages.

"This is the first step," one blogger wrote. "We stop Khamenei and Ahmadin."

Another echoed a warning from opposition leader Mousavi, writing: "People will howl for the innocent killed on Monday."

The impact of Twitter has not been lost on the U.S. State Department, which called on the company to defer maintenance to allow the Web site to stay up.

"We promote the right of free expression," said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. "I wouldn't know a twitter from a tweeter but apparently it is very important."

Computer forensics expert Gary Warner says he has found evidence that opposition forces are actually using Twitter to do more than pass information.

One can see an actual cyberattack against Iranian government Web sites triggered by a mouse click on a link posted on Twitter.

"Sitting in your living room or your office in the United States you can actually directly involve yourself in the conflict that's going on in Iran," Warner said.

The Iranian government is responding by taking down opposition Web sites and restricting Internet access. Protestors claim some computer equipment has been smashed.

It's impossible to know exactly what is going on in Iran but - accurate or not - information still flows.

"It's exceptionally difficult for a government to lock down communications in this day and age with regard to technology adoption," said CBS News cyberterrorism consultant Paul Kurtz.

Cyber experts say government officials cannot shut down all communications because their supporters use the same tools and they also want to know what opponents are saying. But there are signs tonight Iran's censorship is spreading and becoming more effective.[/offsite:2coi5awm]

Coincidentally... I just discovered this... on Twitter... from one of the "iranian" dudes twitting:

[offsite:12w2hhtp]RT Iran: The rumor about Hezbolah & Hamas helping Basij, until today I never believed it but I saw them today with my own eyes[/offsite:12w2hhtp]

I'm also seeing that the propaganda piece in the OP has now made it to the daily Kos

Canada Free Press has picked up the story:

[offsite:12w2hhtp]Encountering Hamas in Teheran is tantamount to meeting an African American at a KKK gathering.

And yet, the Sunni terrorist group from the Palestinian Authority is now joining hands with the Shi’ite mullahs of Iran to crush street protests in favor of opposition candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi and to solidify the re-election of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.[/offsite:12w2hhtp]

All this from the Israeli newspaper reporting it... This "information" on the Palestinians helping the Iranians all coming from one source... inside Israel?

Suspect to say the least... Judging by the way the origional "breaking" story was written... I'm still saying Propaganda.

Mr. Silikoni reported that the demand was so high that a shortage of projectiles has resulted. RRUs main supplier, Rock 'n Roll Novelties, Inc. of Tehran, has announced that it has doubled its manufacturing capacity to meet the extraordinary demand.

He seemed to communicate perfectly well in all those scenarios without a teleprompter... He CAN communicate rather well... But somehow, the Neo-cons and right wing extremists have figured out a way to turn this myth of him not being able to speak into a meme... Its all propaganda...

Watch the debates... They are unscripted... The only person who has a teleprompter is the moderator...

Town hall meetings... he doesn't "pre-screen" the audience and their questions before hand like Bush used to do... and I have yet to see someone ejected from a town hall meeting... He answers questions... and he does all that without a teleprompter...

Memorizing a speech though... is friggan tough... especially when its got to be delivered a certain way to ensure the propaganda goes undetected...

Besides this promptor thing the last 130 days have been downright peachy, it's guys like you that don't want to give the guy a break. It's like BE says, he's steering a big ship... Dependence upon teleprompters is such a superficial point I'm having a hard time relating to your justification of it being a character flaw of any worth.

In my estimation, being a "great communicator" involves the conveyance of complex or unique thoughts in a manner that is most easily understood by the greatest number of people.

For what it's worth, last I checked it was Ronald Reagan that held the moniker of "The Great Communicator".

Does that mean Reagan wrote his speeches or didn't use index cards or teleprompters or was it that when he spoke, regardless of the context, it made sense to people?

Now if you'd like to talk about Obama's administration I'd love to see a major policy decision that didn't involve inflation of the national debt of anything less than $500 million.

Create peace in Muslim lands where we're currently at war and we'll have a conversation.

Offering peace to ideological opponents is not peace, it's appeasement for one side or the other.

Now if you'd like to talk about Obama's administration I'd love to see a major policy decision that didn't involve inflation of the national debt of anything less than $500 million.
If you consider executing flys a major policy change we may have found something slightly less than $500 million. Unless of course he didn't pay $500 million for an official presidential flyswatter.

And pack, I was being a Troll, I have no idea what the fuck I posted... I may have even posted the same thing 3 different times. Sometimes whipping you wankers around can be way more fun than the work on my desk, sorry.
