The thing is when I finally got the divs to float properly in IE, it's just gone off the page in everything else including Safari. Microsoft, stop being a bitch and follow the standards. Sigh..
Its made your doddle twitch and spin . . . be careful . . . lol . . . raz will get excited
I have seen a white paper and blogs on this IE8 situation. It is trying to be strictly compliant yet the other browsers plus IE6 make some liberal non compliant decisions. It has proved to be a problem, which I need not tell you.

Post your CSS and some sample HTML. There's probably a hack to fix it.

The reason a lot of us use IE is because in the UK, ISProviders, the majority use internet explorer so we have to go with the flow,no one gets the net for free.we wish.

Your browser has nothing to do with how you connect to the internet... unless UK providers don't use standard networking protocols between their end users and their own servers.
AOL tried that for a while until people still figured out how to use browsers outside the AOL setup.
I'm sure if you dig around on the internet someone has figured out a way around any particular provider's attempt at channeling.

Thanx for that Cogburn, but it doe's not matter you caanot get the net for free. also i would be gratefull for some deeper explanation about my browser or browsers,i was with AOL uk. for 10 years they where independent of internet explorer, meaning you could log on to AOL and also load up internet explorer.i think i got that right.

You got that bit right. I'm not sure what you mean though about "you cannot get the net for free".
You didn't just mean to say that you think that access to the internet should be free of cost for end users, right?
If that is what you meant, why on earth would you ever think that it should be free?

I've fixed it actually. I don't know how it works, but it works now. Had to move a div from one other div to another div and convert it into an anchor instead, with -999em text-indent. And switch to absolute positioning instead of relative.

It was just a point in the conversation that you cannot get the net for free,it should be free because its such an educational thing etc,its the best thing since the wheel was invented, and one day the net will be standard in everyones home where you will VOTE and every other thing you can mention when it comes to paperwork,TV and so on. :)

I'm sure something can be worked out. But it will require an increase in taxes.

The internet having a cost is a good thing.
In the United States, television is free, however the broadcasts are supported by advertising which is regularly inserted into the transimission.
You can get your internet for free if that's the kind of world you want to live in.

Seriously...
It already is...
You'd be surprised the lengths you have to go through to prevent it from happening...
Its definitely not for the average computer user either...
I'm betting corporate america is counting on that...

The internet is just as bad as TV... its only more subtle... which makes it more dangerous...
Breaking news, or any "news" will always have bias...
Movies are a giant propaganda machine... its quite astonishing actually... but movies employ very very subtle passive control tactics...
Nowhere is really "safe" anymore... Knowledge is the only weapon effective against the propaganda machine...
here in the U.S. we've known about Email monitoring for years... But, our government is also allowed to search your home, wiretap your house, and listen to phone communications for absolutely no reason whatsoever... All in the name of anti-terrorism...
Thanks Pres Bush... we love the USA PATRIOT Act...
The western world is doomed warlord.... fuckin doomed...
