pissed off and in pain

sigh,,,,i'm so pissed off at myself....broke my arm last night in two places and the pain is killing meeeee. I was trying to hang some mini lights in my gazebo for a party im having tomorrow and i was trying to hurry so i took the first thing i saw to stand on so i could reach up and, of course, it was wobbly and i fell onto the concrete patio and broke my arm. so stupid. Now im in pain and so frustrated. i can't use or move my whole right arm or fingers and i have this party still tomorrow. things like getting dressed or doing my hair or my girls hair or anythingggg is next to impossible now. and tpying with one hand really sucks. probably wony get any sleep tonight. anyone ever break their arm before? how long is this pain gonna be like this? anyone have any advice???? helpppppppp pleaseeeee

seriously, hope you feel better soon, my grandmother is in hospital, fell over and broke her hip last weekend, poor thing, and she's 2,000 km's away so i cant go and see her.

haha..ive broken my arm, my nose 3 times, cheekbone, foot, fingers multiple times, collarbone, dislocated shoulder, ac joint, ankle....never broken my heart though...cold as ice.

mojo- wow, you're definatly the resident expert on breaking bones. lol i figure the really, rerally bad pain should subside in 3 days???? and aww, sorry about your gma, hopefully she's getting some good stuff like mophine....oh god i wish i had some. and i did go back to dr. today and told him exactly that, that it was unbearable so he gave me percocet, which i guess helps a little, not sure yet,,,i just took my second one

Sorry to hear of your accident. Hope the pain will ease and you can get back a somewhat normal day despite having the one arm most things. Don't kick yourself over the make shift ladder, just remember it for the future. Maybe someone will donate a ladder to your cause.

When I broke my big toe, the doctor asked me to drink de-gassed 100 Plus / any isotonic drink. Apparently it's got something in it that can reduce swelling.
I don't have much more tips to give other than that and smoking weed. Hope you get well soon, and smoke some weed.

Hi Jessica if you saw all my tablets i take and i have some 30 mg MST and 10 mg MST also other pain killers when i want a Brandy and coke i have the drink as well,and the pain goes untill next morning,google yor Meds an read all about them,and if you read the side effects you won't take your Tablets,instead you smoke a lot of weed instead,and be happy,get stoned.

Dont snort them either. there is too much acetaminophen in it- not good for your liver and itll hurt. Puff as much as you want, just watch the drinks.

And for the record-Both arms (x2), hand, ankle ,fingers, toes, orbital (face), and some ribs.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. :P

We were climbing trees when we were kids, and I was hanging on to a branch (30 ft up). My hands got all sweaty and I lost grip. Should have seen me. Twisting and turnng like a cat trying to get back on it's feet. Anyways, when I landed, my left arm smashed into a boulder. It was pinned under my body and took the full brunt of my weight. :roll:

Picture this:
Put your arm out straight (your good one that you can move lolol) palm side up. Now bend it outwards as far as it can go. Imagine the elbow area smacking into a huge rock and bending it even further. The bones were shattered from my wrist, all the way past my elbow and almost into the shoulder area. I was in a cast for well over 2 months.

It was hard and pretty painful to write (I started out left-handed), and couldn't take it anymore, so I switched over. Now I'm right-handed today.

Bones take time to heal Jess. By all means, take some pain killers in the next while, but try to ease up on them after a week or so. Your body will slow down the healing process while on meds. Get others to pitch in with the housework, while you're out of commission. Keep your arm well supported while you rest up.

And most of all? Cheer up babes. :D Try to. It hurts like a sonofabitch, but the pain should lessen after a few days to a week. Depending on the size and kind of bone-break, normally it'll take around 6-8 weeks before the cast will come off. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later. Everyone's different.

Damn....wish you were living around the corner from me, I would be able to help out with some cooking and cleaning.

aww thx ducky and everyone for the suggestions. I have a great support system with my hubby and my mom and dad all helping out, watching kids, cooking, cleaning ect. it just suckssssss. i cant do my hair lolol. and i have started to ease off the meds, they just make me so nauseous so had no choice really.

Pain of the worst type will last 2-3 days.

Then its just more annoying, and when you hit it on something, and thatll happen every 3 seconds!

No pain meds at all?

Ibuprofen AND tylenol, Ibu reduces the swelling around the area and nerves, and tylenol will help with pain.

Ice for a day or two wont hurt either.

Ive broken alotta shit on the dirtbike, both arms, shoulder, ribs, vertabrae, collar bones...

This is late, I mean, I've got nothing for the post-broken arm.

But next time, take it slow. I can be road rage crazy, so I try to think, am I really that inconvenienced by this sudden annoyance? Is five minutes of my time worth going crazy over? Of course not. Slow down, take your time. Next time you throw a shin-ding, will it be ruined because the mini-lights aren't right? Of course not. Hopefully, you're surrounded by people who enjoy your company and that of your guests. Everything else is just dressing.

I hope you have a great time at the party despite your broken arm.
