Ok, this is a loooong shot here, and it will not tell us the "names" of the investors... But, if the propaganda model holds true, which it has for the last 20-30 years since its inception, than we should be able to figure out ATS...

The propaganda model pretty much states that all news recieved over a MSM news outlet, will reflect the interest of the owners, investors, advertisers etc... Its actually a pretty complicated concept to explain, thus, why the explaination and case studies comprise an entire book. (Manufacturing Consent).

Here's a link to hopefully put it in better words than i could: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_model

Anyway, while I'm waiting for the FOIA to come back on the WITD incident... I want to try an experiment.

If the propaganda model holds true, than by observing the new ATS news feed, we should be able to figure out what "drives" ATS... (besides money). ATS obviously has an "agenda", as is demonstrated by the banning of people who have disagreed with the owner's "pet theories". Lets dissect this new media outlet... figure out whats being reported and how...

I sincerely hope that others with the knowledge of propaganda techniques and the model will help me out here lol... This might be a more massive undertaking than I can do solo in a decent amount of time...

If anyone is familiar (or willing to become familiar) with these techniques and the model itself... let me know, we'll get this shit started!

Hopefully someone is interested in doing this w/me :P

Seems like a sound plan but there will be a lot a false hits due to people posting anything in the news to get attention. I suppose posts by the main guys might indicate something in direction but those posts don't happen often.

well, even if some random dude posted some random story... don't the powers over there have to approve it before it goes on the new news page?

even a simple "filter" like that might reveal quite a bit...

But definitly stuff by the main dudes would be helpful...

its just a lot of shit to sift through everyday... then note how bias and common prop tactics are being used... Its something that would be REALLY cool and helpful to my personal research... but it would be a monumental task...

Just by looking at the site for a mere 30 seconds... their "news" looks like the same crap pumped out by Fox news... and some of it is even more right wing wacko...

here are some of the stories:

Working women almost certainly caused the credit crunch
Fanatical Muslims vs. The Free World
UN fabricates story of Israel shelling UNRWA school in Gaza (Confirmed)
I was called a terrorist, and threatened...
The Real 9/11 Conspiracy, The Invention of Islamic Terrorism
The Houston Tea Party. (Pictures, Podcast, and Information!) [Update: 9000+ Attended]

Tell me that doesn't read like a RNC sanctioned newspaper or something lol

sooo friggan right wing its revolting.

lol they site this story... (Bill: I'm citing the original source... not you... I had to search for the origional source, as your site didn't properly provide the links to the original copyright protected material)

[offsite=http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/opinion/2009/0225/1224241774267.html:1238hek5]NEWTON'S OPTIC: THE ANSWER to all our problems is staring us in the face. It may even be quite literally staring at you, right now, across the breakfast table.

So put the paper down, stare back and ask yourself a selfless question.

Does the woman in your life really need a job?[/offsite:1238hek5]

LOL I know bill and Crakeur and the gang will read this sometime or other... but seriously... That's awful...

a good starting point would be the removal of narcotics from the forum in its entirety, anything remotely discussing narcotics in a news feed i would imagine would be taken off immediately it was noticed..

im also wondering if site's actually in fact reflect the prejudices of the owners, not just a t s.

oh the A T S membership's prejudices are carefully guided... if you stick to your principals, you're banned...

The first three filters for the propaganda model are 1) Ownership, 2) Funding, and 3) sourcing (where the source of info comes from).

so yah... definitely the biases and prejudices of the ownership...
