GIMPing Around

I'm currently playing with making my own brushes for GIMP. When I was doing paper collage, I used to work a lot with eye images. GIMP is way better.

This is just a rough thing I knocked out to show what the brushes I'm working on can do. Kind of creepy, isn't it?

I call this The Invasion of the Eye Worms.

I'm still playing with basic things like making brushes and effects on color right now. But I thought you might enjoy these. They turned out creepier than I thought they would.

I love the textures I get just messing around with lip images as a brush. I had some interesting ideas before I fell asleep last night that I'm going to work on over the next couple of days. This is way better than using an exacto knife and a glue stick and cutting pix out of a magazine manually.

My neighbor was just over, and was playing around with my new brushes, and inspired this one. I like the technique, but it needs more work with a steadier hand.

Thanks, Chad! If this is the sort of thing someone can do when they first start working with GIMP, I can't wait until I have some actual command of the program.

The possibilities for art are so much more extensive than pencil and paper in so many ways.
