I don't get what the fuss is with Tibet. Okay I get it a bit, but what I really don't get is why a lot of westerners champion this cause but ignore other comparable situations. What makes this so special?
I understand it to an extent but i believe there are other groups/people/races doing it tougher. Burma, sudan, zimbabwe, ahh, gone blank but theres a couple of others living under genocidal regimes that no one seems to care about, but you mention the dalai lama and you get all sorts of tools clamouring to be seen with the guy.

Being in the States, I just wish we would take care of our own before we fucking worry about everyone else. How can you help abroad when you can't even keep your own turf stable? Bunch of fuck ups running the show!!!
And it doesn't seem that there is an end in sight.

I'm not for complete isolation from other countries, but I agree with PaleHorse. It's just common sense to fix our own corrupt regime before we let that regime go off and try "fixing" other nations in that regime's image. I dunno. I've had a couple brews.

Why? Because the Buddhist celebs and the Dalai Lama are great spin doctors and have got their own pet cause into the news. Money and fame talks.

BTW I voted I don't care, because at this particular moment in time, I don't.
Got enough domestic drama to deal with.

Hey BK.
I don't give a flying one.
There are a lot of other people in a much worse situation. And in all fairness if Tibet was given autonomy they would get bum raped by western countries quicker than you can say "How's ya father!"

Because Buddhism, being such a loving, peaceful religion, gains more sympathy?
