On the field trip I took my daughter on last Friday, we saw a huge moth sunning itself on the railing of Chabot Space and Science Center. I got a killer photo of it.

I just identified it as a Ceanothus silkmoth (Hyalophora euryalus). (http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/species?l=3283)
It's gorgeous. I'd never seen a moth like that around here before. This was up in the Oakland hills, where there is a lot of parkland.
