even though it does about 45,000rpm and produces approx 1.9HP, my 2.5cc / .15 cube inch engine is a pretty simple little motor eh. ?

they make a good keyring toy, but the piston skirt hooks in your pockets and tears them open :O

There's a street not to far from me that sells all that stuff, boats, planes and cars... Are the bits expensive?

I'll have a look next week!

My boy would love one of those, he killed his buzz lightyear, space mobile pretty quickly though!

What's a good starter to get in to racing cars?

Fox, first you need to decide what you want.

nitro is a bit more messy (more cleaning) and a bit more maintenance, but adds a whole other level to the hobby as it makes it feel more like a real car and less like a toy coz it has a reving engine that you will need to learn how to tune.

electric is plug and play, and not as messy (no fuel residue on the car) but having no nitro motor makes them feel like a toy (to me anyway)

electic CAN go faster than nitro, if you spend a few hundred on a brushless motor kit for it.
electric has all its power output right from 1rpm, through to max rpm.

any true engine (4stroke car, or 2stroke rc) has to spool up some RPM before it reaches max power. so electric has far stronger launch.

------------

then, do you want a touring car to be used on smooth, debris-free bitumen.
or a buggy, monster truck, or a little stadium truck to go offroad with.

the great thing about offroad is you can put different tyres on it and go onroad anyway.
but an onroad touring car can never ever be used for offroad.
