This is a Slavonic folktale, it was taken from a book written around 1890. It had been around for a few hundred years before that, since the middle ages.
One thing i founf interestinmg when i read this tale for the first time was a line in the last paragraph. I've highlighted it in bold.
The tale is very similar to the Pied Piper fairy tale except that it is snakes not rats which are wooed by the music.

Sacred Texts (http://www.sacred-texts.com/neu/sfs/sfs77.htm)

Thus perished, along with the whole lizard race, the monstrous snake which had done so much harm to the cattle. The peasants were again able without fear to carry on their occupations, and the shepherds at Ososcica to pasture their cattle without anxiety. The grateful people have not up to the present time forgotten the promise of their ancestors, and every year on that selfsame day distribute gifts of corn to the poor.

That line, "along with the whole lizard race" just struck me as peculiar, particularly as it was written so long ago.
Not something that seems to fit the story.

Know of any other references to Lizard races from older writings?

Nope, I do not know of any other "ancient" references to reptilians.

I will, however, have to go look now. Thanks mojo! /sarcasm

haha

As I have said before, I do NOT believe all this bullshit about the reptilian beings who have infiltrated all levels of government yet can't seem to beat the video camera.

I do, however, believe it possible for there to be some form of reptilian humanoid living on this planet.

I also believe that they are VERY likely much much much older than we are as a species.

The similarities between this version of the pied piper and St. Patrick driving the snakes out of Ireland is amazing.

just one more connection amongst hundreds if not thousands of others that point towards an ancient global civilization imho.
so many similarities between mythology's of various cultures seperated by time and distance that only one conclusion can be reached.

Funny how European cultures have an adversarial relationship to reptiles while Asian and Meso-American cultures look on them as benevolent.

they were referring to lizards in the classic sense. not humanoid.

Quickly up rushed and crowded from all quarters a vast number of snakes, lizards, and salamanders to the pile, and, driven by some strange force, all sprang into the fire and perished there.

so you kind of took it out of context and gave it meaning that it never had to begin with.

Then why have we not found a single skeleton of one of these reptile people? Most cultures have some sort of God does this proove that there is a god?

I agree with you 100%, however, for the sake of playing the devil's advocate, let's switch to bears. In Louisiana we have a very large black bear population. They interact with people on a daily basis and now live within the human communities to a large extent. Yet do you know how hard it is to find a Black bear carcass in the wilderness? The same can be said of Mountain lions, Moose and caribou. (Also elephants in Africa.) Most people in America never have seen one of these animals in person, and have never found a skeleton of one! Does that mean that they have never existed?

I am sorry Nephy. Some of us had read your post but for the time being are busy battling our own version of the White Snake. We are hunting high and low for the elusive creature but it seems to have a powerful defense against our best weapons. It seems it has the power to hide from us by simply ignoring us, and by residing in places where we are banned! But fear not, ours is a Holy Quest, and Gawd willing we will be successful.

Now if you happen to hear hissing that sounds remarkably like disingenuous, boorish, two-faced, trite condescension; then arm yourself and call us for support. For the EVIL is near! It has many names this eternal pestilence, but in this age it is called BE2!

First, please tell me which law of the universe dictates that all life must leave a fossil record.

Second, please tell me the number of flora and fauna that existed on this planet for which we have no fossil record, and thereby no clues to their existence. Can you even say what percentage of life on earth DID leave a fossil record?

Your argument is simply goofy.

Maybe they're immortal. Or, more likely, if they are still a living race today, they are very careful about how their remains are kept. Also, you have to consider that if they do exist, they have been around since the heydey of the dinosaur. We are still discovering new species of dinosaur.just found two in Colorado, as reported just the other day.

This illustrates my point perfectly.

Dinosaurs were the dominant species on the Earth for 250,000,000 years and died off 50,000,000 years ago.

They were a prolific species and yet we have only a handful of remains compared to the number that actually walked the planet.

We have been the dominant species on the Earth for arguably 500,000 years.

In 50,000,000 years New York will be little else but an ore deposit for the exploitation of some future sentient species, and we should consider ourselves lucky if there's a still a bone or two kicking around in a rock somewhere.

Author's commentary RE movie clip:

A saurian scientist finds the remains of a Voyager crewman who died on the planet where the crew was exiled by the Kazon during the two-part episode "Basics". An analysis of the remains' DNA shows links to his own DNA. While tracking and studying the Voyager crew, the scientist and his aide are discovered; they eventually pool their knowledge and conclude that the saurian is an evolved dinosaur from a species that left Earth more than 65 million years earlier. The scientist is thrilled to be able to prove his Distant Origin theory (that his saurian race originated elsewhere in the galaxy), but the rulers of his society place him on trial for heresy against the doctrinal teachings of their heritage, the central tenet being that they originated in the Delta Quadrant. The outcome of that trial threatens the Voyager crew as well.
