Is it safe writing anything down anywhere on the intertubez?
It's at your own risk that you share your own personal wisdom with others, but if it is stolen and shared by someone else to someone else, isn't it still your wisdom?
btw, i liked and i won't steal.
:)
True.
Thank you MoJo for you words of wisdom.
Of whatever that exchange just was.

This is why I use other already posted content on the net to express my views. Anything I write that is original and goes up on the net- Hell, I expect it to be stolen.
I do love your poem- It is pretty fantastic. Thanks for sharing it. I have been around long enough to know... well- somethings are better sung:

There is a huge reason to be worried:

PS- I briefly represented Sophia Stewart fours years ago. The result of which was onimous at best.. I lost a hell of a lot of business and contacts due to repping Ms. Stewart who did win her case.
James Cameron (director of Terminator) was in business at Hemdale Films- a film production company that was notorious for ripping of materials- then packaged by big agencies.
My point is, everyone in Hollywood knew what was going on- CUT TO:
HOLLYWOOD - Present day
James Cameron cannot get a movie made unless he throws in his own money!!!!
The players have distanced themselves from him as if he were a leper.
Read between the lines folks- there is more information available than you may realize.
DO NOT EVER POST ANYTHING ON THE NET NOR SUBMIT ANYTHING WHICH YOU DO NOT WANT RIPPED OFF.
Do any of you think that a Copyrighted story will protect you?
If you do- then you are seriously naive.
When I was a talent agent- I had sources at the writers guild (all agents/agencies do) who immediately send scripts and written materials the moment you drop them off!!!!
I am serious as a heart attack. The WGA is nothing more than a hub of written materials just waiting to be knocked off and stolen.
That Sucks DK.
I used to like James Cameron.
Are you able to protect your stuff if you post it to yourself before putting it up on the net, or is that just a myth?

That works as long as you do NOT open the envelope! Works better if you know an attorney you can send it certified mail to. Have your attorney accept the materials and file it for you unopened. Do not put in a cover letter- ONLY YOUR WRITTEN MATERIALS!!! This is very important!!
This way should someone steal your idea not only will have a date and time stamp it will also have a delivery slip. It is best to use U.P.S. or US Postal over night urgent delivery. Send only one manuscript at a time!!!!!
Most lawyers will accept the packages from you for a small retainer of say $200.00 (for file space).
If you are a serious writer- this is well worth the money. If you have a lawyer friend who will hook you up for free- even better!
Screw it. Here is one I wrote in January.
~~
Barred from Elysian Fields
Styx, drift on down the river
Children at the waters edge feel it steel cold shiver
The man’s body drifts by; they say he was such a giver
A single tear is shed as well as a collective quiver
In to the Stygian abyss we all float
Feeling an uncomfortable tightness, rising from chest to throat
A church organ is playing; every other measure it hits an eerie, out of tune note
With coin in mouth, Charon the old ferry man, does helm the boat
My brothers and sister are in the Elysian Fields, where I will never be admitted
The soul still remains tarnished but from the crimes I have been acquitted
More than one side has every story; certain facts are always somehow omitted
Spending the last of my days in hiding, because they tried to have me committed
Now over the river, Cerberus guards the gate that none shall ever leave
The far bank can no longer be seen; say farewell to those that did grieve
Arriving here of our own volition or is it because the others set out to deceive?
Webs of woe we did weave; we are just lost children and we are very naïve
