When her 20-year-old son stumbled home one night last October, Gail DeLucca told him to go to bed and sleep it off. "I love you, Ray," she called up the stairs, figuring she would wait until morning to lecture him about drinking.

But it wasn't alcohol that made her son so woozy. It was methadone, and it killed him.

people pushing the envelope....i was on methadone as a pain med but i pulled myself off of it...unlike the valium and the vicodin, i had crazy respect for this med....i pulled off of it though cause i would get looks and stares from the pharmacy....everyone thinks that if you are on methadone you are an ex heroin addict.....i have never even seen heroin...

Jeeezus Boondock,never heard of it being used as pain meds before.

You did the right thing gettin off it though-That shit is evil-we got a bad problem of methadone addicts in the UK who often say quitting smack is far easier than quitting methadone.

Some guys I went to college with years back were on it,and they could not function without it,and their teeth were falling out because of the methadone.

There is only one pain med I trust...and it does happen to be a similar shade of green to methadone-although its natural and nice to smoke.

i was on a low dose and it was pretty good at controlling the pain but i just was not comfy taking it...i didn't like the looks and glances i got at the pharmacy...also, if i ran out i would be sick as hell.

The few junkies I've known in the past thought methadone was worse than heroin by a long shot. If it's worse than heroin, there is a real problem there with putting people on it to get them off the smack.

i would get so sick if i was to run out of my pills for a couple days or something....i will never go back on methadone again....i get a script every month cause my doc still thinks i take it but i don't. i just toss the script away after i tear it up into small pieces...

that is some mean shit lemme tell ya
