Texas judge holding custody hearing for polygamists' kids

The 416 children who once led cloistered lives on their church's ranch outside a tiny town in West Texas have spent the past two weeks sleeping on cots, shuffled from shelter to shelter.

On Thursday, a judge was scheduled to hear from their attorneys, along with attorneys for their parents and Child Protective Services, on whether the children ought to be returned to the ranch run by a polygamous sect or be placed in permanent foster care.

The custody case is one of the largest in U.S. history and involves children from 6 months to 17 years in age. Roughly 100 of the children are under age 4.

I saw this on the news and I was thinking the same thing.

I don't have issues with polygamy, provided everyone involved in the marriage part is 18 or older when included.

These sick mofos though ... marrying little girls. Pervos one and all, hiding behind god as an excuse to be pedophiles.

I feel terrible for the kids, and for their brain washed mothers, who lose their kids and their security. They've probably all been raised in that crap and have no idea how wrong it is.

i don't have an issue with polygamy either as long as it is adults and everyone has consented to it...when these fucks that are 50 marry a 15 year old though....that shit ain't right.

it's the kids that suffer again, as usual.....400 kids going into the system...their lives are fucked.....they're never going to get the love, support, and guidence that they need. they're gonna get shuffled around from house to house, person to person...

What bothers me with this is the power that CPS has, CPS has way too much fucking power. Have they even found the girl yet that supposedly called? CPS went in on suspicion not evidence and kidnapped those kids, until I see further proof that bad shit was going on that is what I see going on. CPS needs to fucking be done away with, you know they could go right now, take my kid at daycare for a number of BS things and not have to tell me.

If these girls were being sexually assaulted, then that is an awful deal, and needs to be taken care of. I dont care what the polygamous folks do, that isnt a life I would care to have. More then one wife no, no way in hell I could handle another crazy woman.

If that was my kid, I would get her back, and I would fucking kill anyone that stood in my way. If CPS took my child, I would do whatever I had to do to get her back.

I say we outlaw the FLDS, deprogram the kids, give the mothers a chance to live with their kids in a normal life, with monthly psych visits for various reasons, if nothing then to help them cope with the modern world, lock the husbands up and be done with the whole situation.

I'm sorry but Freedom of Religion means you have the freedom to believe what you want and build a church, not break the laws and marry kids and brainwash them to such an extent.


Now of course I, like GN and Boon have no problem with Polygamy so long as it is consenting and everyone is of legal marrying age.

ME, yes yes and yes. If I hear the words, or see the words CPS my mind automatically goes into rage mode. I have always had a distaste for them, but now having a child it multiplied it by a thousand. Knowing how easily she could be taken away from my wife and I just absolutely sends me into a blind freaking rage.
