The Masters is not yet over this afternoon but I can safely present the "Worst Musical Accompaniment of the Millennium for a Major Sports Event."
I normally don't even listen, if I am even aware of musical accompaniment of sports events.
But watching the 2008 Masters in Augusta my attention has been morbidly drawn to what is, without a doubt, the worst background music for a major sports event.
With subdued but identifiable cuts, from, "Quo Vadis", "Exodus", "The Greatest Story Ever Told" and "The Ten Commandments" CBS has reached a new low is network broadcast scoring.
Second only to their selection of Katie Couric as evening news anchor CBS has cemented their total incompetence in every phase of Television programming with the background music for the 2008 Masters Golf Tourney.
When they are not playing long ago and far away forgotten movie themes, there is some yo-yo playing casket viewing music on a poorly tuned piano.
No, I am not being premature when I present CBS with First Prize for the "Worst Musical Accompaniment of the Millennium for a Major Sports Event" 92 years early.
