Whatever happened to the late night "scary" series'???

Do you guys remember "The Hitchhiker"?

"Tales from the Crypt"?

"Tales from the Darkside"?

Dammit! I miss those fucking shows!!!

I remember, growing up, ITCHING for late night to roll around so I could flip over to the "scary" shows and enjoy until my heart was content.

What do I have now?

Now, I turn on the TV late night and I have reruns of fucking Big Brother. A show TALKING about Big Brother. 40 different flavors of "Law and Order" (great shows but DAMN! Aren't there enough already??). "Flip This House" and any other number of stupid bullshit that follows suit.

Am I the only one that finds this totally unacceptable???

It's LATE DAMMIT!!! Scare me!!!!!!!

They're all to be found on Chiller now. It's part of DirecTV's basic packaging; can't speak for other companies.

There's all kinds of crazy shit on that channel. It's sort of my last resort when all the intelligent stuff is off-air.

Hell yes, what we t here sounds even worse nowadays, we get either infomercials, bible bashers, game shows or talk shows after 1am.

Never thought i'd say it but i miss Elvira and our own Deadly Ernest.

Then there was NightStalker, that show was fuckin sweet.

I loved the Hitchhiker. That show was tits up!

Ever see this one:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i__XhXf9rPI&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i__XhXf9rPI&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

I know ATSguy stole this as his avatar. Fucking lying thief! But believe it or not this clip aired on television (FOX) for three minutes in place of dead air- it was the talk of the day back then.

This was on cable about a year ago:

You may remember this guy, dk.

My favorite "scary" movie host of all time was Larry Vincent aka, "Seymour" of "Fight Night" fame.

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee162/21b45o13x25c54o34d45e/art/Seymour1.gif

Seymour the Sinister - The host of 1970s Saturday night program Fright Night on KHJ-TV Channel 9 in Los Angeles. Seymour (played by Larry Vincent) offered the worst in horror and sci-fi movies. The show's official fans (known as "Fringies") received a "Certificate of Demerit" which read: "To whom it may concern...and it won't. This is to certify that (have a friend help you spell you name) is a member in bad standing in Seymour's Society of FRINGIES. Because you enjoy such outstanding horror films as Attack of the Mushroom People and Monster from the Surf etc. & etc. you are truly on the LUNATIC FRINGE and deserve all the help and recognition you can get. You are an idiot of the very first order." It was signed "Disrespectfully Seymour, Master of the Macabre, Epitome of Evil, The Most Sinister Man To Crawl The Face Of The Earth." Seymour closed each show saying "I'd like to wish you a good evening. I'd like to...but that's just not my style!" Larry Vincent, a.k.a. "Seymour" died from stomach cancer on Sunday, March 9, 1975 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank. He was 50.

I'm a "Fringie."

I remember seeing him in a personal appearance at the old Town Theater in North Long Beach where he presented the original "Night of the Living Dead."

That movie creeped the shit out of me, (still does) I wasn't old enough to see that film, then.

I think I may still have my autographed "Certificate of Demerit" somewhere. 8)

He was noted for his style of criticizing the movies he presented in an offbeat and funny manner, usually appearing in a small window which would pop up in the corner, tossing a quip, then vanishing again.

In addition to his TV duties, Larry Vincent served as Knott's Berry Farms inaugural "Ghost Host," in 1973 at Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt.

Several years after Vincent died, Elvira took up the mantle of horror-film hostess on Fright Night, later to be followed by her own series "Movie Macabre". The role of heckling host was left vacant until the premiere of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

GOOS! I totally forgot about that freak! Yes I remember, now! He was so creepy!

This will bring your goose flesh to rise:

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GY-B3Z0DeUA&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GY-B3Z0DeUA&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="625" height="555"></embed></object>

This movie seems silly now- but when I was a kid- this scared the wits out of me!
