My brother is my tech support he has a degree in networking and is well on his way to a computer science degree. Anyway I got him hooked on computers when he was a teen, so every couple of years we build me a new one, or I help him build one. Anyway this this the one we just built for me:

Pretty! Shiny! Not coated in dust and cat hair.
Now I have computer envy.
My desktop is several years old, I just use it to let my daughter play on the web, and to burn DVDs.
My laptop (that I use all the time) is a Compaq Presario V6000TX
Windows XP Professional
Intel Core Duo T2450
1 GB DDR2
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
120 GB Hard drive
Super multi 8X DVD w/ DL support
It's not the dog's bollocks, but it gets the job done.

The customer reviews is why I went with the video card I went with, just fucking amazing I run Everything on the highest setting.
I have always been an ASUS motherboard fan this is my 3rd motherboard from them, I wanted something to crossfire with. There are four slots to do this with, but my video card weighs 4 fucking pounds and will only fit 2 cards, but at this point I'm in no hurry to add another card.
I have some damn 120 gb harddrive.
Sub woofer speaker system
and a Cannon pixma ip1700 printer.
XP Pro

My core 2 duo doesn't give me any shit. It has made doing more than one thing at once much faster. I really like it.
But a four pound video card? Dayum! Is it made of pure gold?
