Share you cleaning secrets here -- if you dare!

My first one is inspired by the massive fridge cleaning underway at the moment.

I had a case of coke I got from Costco that someone had apparently dropped or crushed and I didn't realize it until I found it had leaked at the bottom of the closet. About half the cokes had obvious holes in the cans, so I threw them out. The rest I washed with soap and water, and when dry, put them all in the fridge.

Well, some of those bastards had microscopic slow leaks and coke has decorated the shelf at the bottom of the main compartment. Plus, the maple syrup has a way of leaving bottle-shaped marks inside the door.

Rather than scrub scrub scrub with cleanser and still not get it clean, there is a great short cut.

make a thick paste with baking soda, then cover the sticky mess liberally with it, making sure the paste is pushed well down into the stains.

Wait for it to dry, a few hours. Once dry, apply white vinegar to each spot in turn, scrubbing while the mess bubbles.

Smells rank, but works very well. I just coated my fridge, and will be scrubbing it with vinegar this afternoon during the final phase of Operation Inspection.

it's the price one pays when getting a government subsidy to pay the rent.

I explained it here: http://amkon.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1107

It is a bit of a PITA, but in years gone by, everybody did a big spring clean. Most people don't anymore, but it was a good habit to be in. This just sort of makes you get back in the habit, is all.

LOL Fast path to eviction.

I've never failed an inspection yet, and I won't now. I keep my place pretty clean anyway, vacuum high traffic areas daily and use those cleaning wipes on everything from stove, to sink, to floor as needed for spot cleaning.

It's really not that bad. I just like to complain, in case you haven't noticed.

If I could have one that didn't require any monetary outlay, didn't talk back, didn't have an opinion of their own but was happy to go along with mine, and was independently wealthy and bought me and my kids our own island, OK.

Otherwise, I'm single for life. Wife, husband, who needs them?

I got a really old shower in our house. Could never get this black spot off the bottom no matter what we did. Can't afford to replace it and hoping to get it reglazed one day. I was scrubbing the toilets and used the toilet bowl cleaner and got to thinking why can't I use some of this on it, see what it does. Squirted it on there. Checked later and the black spot was faded. 3 more time and it's almost gone.I've even used toilet bowl cleaner on the old bathtub we have. hehehehe
