behold! my latest creation.

i just finished air brushing this body for my monster truck, its nearly 2am saturday and in about 5 hours i drive 4 hours to compete in a big night race meeting.

i always get anxious and cant sleep. my mind keeps rolling over everything i needed to do or take with me.

---------------------

the camera flash doesnt do it justice, the roof is chrome and the main body is white.

Very handsome vehicle!

I tried my hand at air brushing and didn't get the hang of it. Was it difficult for you to learn? Have any instruction or classes on it?

very nice! I like the colors!

I'm assuming that it's gass powered? What's the top speed on it?

yes, its nitro powered. runs on 25% nitro with methanol + 2 stroke oils.

top speed is about 80kph out the box because it has a 2 spd gearbox.

well, i TQ'd (top qualifier) and started from pole position in the mains, but i made a few little mistakes and ended up getting 2nd place in both mains, and got 2nd place overall for the meet.

ill post some pics + video soon.

about 50mph for my revo monster truck.

my jato stadium truck can go a lot faster, but its only half the size. (monster trucks are always bigger than anything else)

http://www.traxxas.com/products/trx_nitro.htm

have a look at that link, i have the jato, revo 3.3, tmaxx (mine is modified with a big block motor) and i also have a nitro 4tec Pro touring car.

i would be more than happy to teach you what i know, its really not that difficult.
i have several .pdf files which can give good advice too.

just an FYI, our bodies are painted on the INSIDE so the paint doesnt scratch off in a stack. the plastic also gives a nice glossy finish.

and we have to paint dark colours first, light colours last.

so in that body i sprayed the black blend, then chrome, then the red, yellow and finally white.
if you spray the white or yellow first the black over spray makes the white or yellow go much much darker.

red backed in black ends up looking like marone

things you need is a decent air compressor (mine is a $100, 20litre / 2.5hp budget model)
a water trap to prevent moisture from the compressor entering your spray gun.
and a half decent spray gun.

all up it'll set you back about 150 for all the above, but you probably have some of that stuff.

let me know if your keen and ill get some stuff together for you.

I think I still have my airbrush, just dont' have a compressor.

I also don't have any time to do this unfortunately. And even if I did, no doubt my son would paint the cats.

Maybe in a few years.

oh... completely destroyed the suspension on my cobra. I was able to salvage the engine, but that's probably the only good part left on it. This wasn't a cheap ass car.
