The FBI acknowledged Wednesday it improperly accessed Americans' telephone records, credit reports and Internet traffic in 2006, the fourth straight year of privacy abuses resulting from investigations aimed at tracking terrorists and spies.

Even if they're getting into this info -- which I agree is a crock of shit -- the effectiveness of the US government's law enforcement agencies, in my opinion, is about zero.

Even with good information, maps, witnesses and informants, they haven't managed to take down a certain criminal I know. I don't even think they're trying.

It would be like giving schematics for a hyperdrive spaceship to Inspector Clouseau and expecting him to come back with a working prototype.
