View Full Version : Assholes who order food 15 min before closing time.

DIRUS

This really pisses me off, honestly our closing time is posted on the front door when you walk in. So there is no excuse for showing up fifteen minutes before closing time and ordering a well done steak a half rack of ribs and a burger etc. Usually by this time we have everything cleaned and most food is put away. it's a big pain in the ass having to pull everything out and make a mess again. Sometimes I just wanna kick the customer(s) in the balls

If you haven't already, watch the movie "Waiting".

If you work in the food service industry, you should dig it.

I did watch that movie! hilarious, disturbing ,and yet very tempting all at the same time. Doubt my boss or even some of the servers would think it was funny, unfortunately.

You could always make a "last call" poster and say what the deadline is for ordering a steak before closing.

LOL, you'll really hate me then.
I'm afraid im guilty of that, especially when UTI.
I get the munchies i dont care what time it is, i need food.
OK i'll think twice next time before i ring the local pizza joint at 2.45am, they close at 3.00am.

Can i have that to go DIRUS?

Let's turn this around.

When I show up, 5 minutes after
opening, order and get told;
"The grill isn't hot, yet".

Who is the asshole ?

Do your fucking job.

You are in a customer service
business.

Stop bitching.

correct me if im wrong, but lets say you close at 9pm and someone orderd at 8.45..

8.45 is still during OPEN hours, yeah????

so they are perfectly fine doing so. :P

if its still such a big issue then the wait staff should reply "oh, im sorry sir the kitchen is now closed, and the shop closes in 15 minutes."

Lexion, Oblivion...

My sentiments exactly...

As much as it may suck for you to have to stay another half hour, it is your job. You signed up and get paid for it, so deal with it. It's not the end of the world.

Please don't.
Lex, Dirus is my son...if that means anything.
And legitimately, the grill takes 15 minutes to heat up properly unless you want undercooked food.

Lol, DIRUS is a big boy FS i'm sure he can handle a little criticism.

I feel the same about my painful customers too sometimes but i'm
reminded by my boss everytime i ask for a payrise that its even the
annoying ones who are helping to pay my wage. :)

Let the boy fight his own battles. :D

I mean that in the nicest possible way.

First of all I'd like to apologize for my strong wording that seems to have offended some people. It isn't a matter of not wanting to do my job. But to walk a mile in my shoes literally, whenever this happens it causes me to miss the last bus. I live on the very opposite side of town and would rather not have to walk for an hour and forty five minutes after work to get home. Now before the question "why not get a job closer to home?" arises, the city I currently live is limited for job opportunities and this is the best paying job available to me at this time.

And legitimately, the grill takes 15 minutes to heat up properly unless you want undercooked food.

then the grill shouldnt be turned off until closing time, which is not 15 minutes early unless you like to force your customers to go elsewhere.

and if they go elsewhere you force them into a competitors shop which runs the risk of them not returning in the future.

The whole grill thing was referring to Lexion's comment about opening not closing. We don't shut the grill off early.

That would have definately helped your OP make more sense so, no worries mate.
Cant your boss or another worker cover for you if it means missing the last bus?
I know we are always covering for one another at different times at my work if someone needs to get away.

Lexion

I'm at work 2.5 hours ahead of time.

Call me stupid.
Call me dedicated.

Wrong on both accounts.
That's just me.

If a food place opens at 6 (hypothetical)
grill should be hot and cooking at 5:30.

Realise that YOU as an employ have
a duty.

The company you work for expects this.

If you cannot come to terms with your
employer, you need to find another job.

Yes, I'm harsh. So is life.
Want my qualifications ? Ask Mom.

Lex,

You are my fucking hero. (right there with mojo and steve-o)

That being said, I actually understand where DIR is comin from.

If you walk into an actual RESTAURANT, you should have some level of tact and not do so 5 minutes before they are going to close the fucking door.

If you bust up in a McDonalds, you expect your food to be ready in 5 minutes or so. BUT, if you bust up in Applebees or some shit, you should KNOW that your meal may take 30+ minutes to be prepared.

Unfortunately, most people view food service workers as the bottom of the fucking food chain and they would rather spit on them than show them some consideration.

That being what it is; When you choose to work in the food service industry, you should expect this kind of treatment/behavior.

Mama Bear (aka FS),

I'm with everyone else. He's a big boy haha, he can take care of himself. :)

He'll have to around this bunch of fuckin heathens. hahahahaha

Please, give me a fucking break...

I eat at places like This (http://www.grandelakes.com/Sushi-Menu-144.html).

I'm simply saying, if you hire

If there are circumstances
preventing something, work
it out with your boss.

Please don't bitch to people

The rant forum is for ranting about whatever is pissing you off today, yesterday, or tomorrow. And no matter what that may be there will be someone in the world who has it worse or has seen worse.
SO FUCKING WHAT.
Since when does the rant forum have to meet high standards.
Trust me, you don't want me to continue this rant because although swearing is allowed at AMKON, I would be banned for overuse of FOUL LANGUAGE.

Ok, sorry for off topic.

Seriously if you're open til 9pm you take orders til 9pm. Been there, done that. Same thing with any customer related business. Cell phone places aren't gonna tell a customer Sorry Ma'am it's 8:50 and we can't help you.

I'm sorry you gotta take the bus. Maybe ask your boss to start your shift earlier so you get off earlier.

I think what DIR is suffering from is the "Why the fuck are these bastards so inconsiderate?" syndrome that goes along with one's first forays into any "customer service" profession.

It can be quite hard, at first, to grasp the concept that the "customer" usually looks at you as beneath them and, therefore, they don't give a flying fuck how much harder they make your day/night.

My philosophy of "the customer is always an asshole" has gotten me far.

It's much easier to handle them when you view them the same way they view you.

I've worked the jobs where you have to deal with customers and pissed off ones at that. I did hair for 15 years. Try some cranky old ladies who want a perm so tight water bounces off it. Try punkass kids who just HAVE to have a fade and nothing you do pleases them. The blades cut the hair, you tell me you want a 0 blade I'm gonna use a 0 blade. If so and so at the barber shop cut it better last time, then why didn't you go there in the first place?

So been there....It's part of the job, regardless how people see you. Some customers are total assholes while others make your day. I've gotten a $20 tip on a $8 haircut. I've also gotten stiffed on tips.

If you really want to take a verbal beating, work in ANY telecommunications field.

People are fucking BRAVE on the telephone haha.

I've had them call ME and then tell me I should have never been fucking born for calling them at 9:00 am. Not to mention the ones who tell you they are going to find you and relieve you of your testicles because their cable bill was 12 cent higher than it should be.

WTF?

You must be a glutten for punishment to work telecommunications lol

I did have 1 older male (I was about 19/20) that jerked off under the drape while I cut his hair. Once I noticed I walked away and got the manager. The guy came in again about a month later, tried the same shit with another girl and she whacked him with a blow dryer.
