Well he's done! He out lasted 9 presidents and ruled for almost 50 years (47). I may not be a fan of communism but I have to hand it to the man to be in control of a nation that long and to lead a form of governemt that isnt the most popular takes balls.

True but the old bugger held on! Now that his younger, but still very old, brother is taking the helm I wonder what will happen in Cuba...

Yeah you have a point, but once he dies what do you think the younger generation will do once they take control?

Cuba is probably going to go places now. Their medical care is better than ours at this point. When I was in France, I found that lots of Europeans go on holiday there. Maybe it'll open up more and their economy will really get to rocking.
I figured Fidel would die giving a speech. Surprising that he stepped down voluntarily. Must be wicked tired.

Some of his govt policies notwithstanding, I always loved the old dude for being able to put USA in its place by pointing out what is wrong with our country. Had to love his honesty and insight. For 50 years we tried to get him, but he always outsmarted our govt.
