I do belive that most people are good at heart, and have good intent. Belive what you want.. But please understand if you are someone who follows Pat Roberson, you are to blame for many problems this world faces..
You are the power Base to these nutters, and allow them free run over this world!
If we have any christian members I would be happy to go toe to toe with you! Im not trying to disprove God, or tell you how to live your life or what to belive..
But I will be telling you what you empower.. the kinds of evil you let run amuck.. You are suppose to fight the evils of this world.. NOT EMPOWER IT!!!
This is pretty bad when I agree with Papa Bear here @ faux news..
I mean really, Im agree'ing with Bill O.! Thats a rare thing to have happen..
The man almost sounds like a human being in this clip!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmcXL_fG ... re=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmcXL_fGrss&feature=related)
You have christian and bapists alike speaking the word of hate!
And those of you who go to church every sunday empower this maddness!
I want you to know who you empower..
I want you to know Phelps family does speak for all of you!
Many say the bible is not about hate.. Yet clearly all the Top people do is spread hate!!
Put down the bible for a moment to hear me out.. Its a sick twisted world.. And those of you who belive empower this sickness.
God orders the death of homosexuals, men and woman that don't believe in him, people who believe in others Gods, people that work on the Sabbath, Pregnant women and unborn babies, children, babies, animals, mediums or spiritualists, rape victims, children that curse their parents, discriminates against the disabled, advocates slavery, advocates rape, discriminates against women, encourages self mutilation and the like... NOT QUITE "LOVE" LOL
I am getting to my wits end with these people.. And sooner or later someone has to stand up aginst them..
And will I be dubbed as the Devil??
Take a good look at religion.. And ask yourself this honestly..
Who are you really bowing down too?
I dont think its the God you think you are whorshipping..
I dont buy into all the bullshit.. But I do belive there is evil in this world.. And evil powers know how to manipulate the good into evil actions...
When I pass by a church all I sense is evil..
You can do what you want, and belive what you want..
But do know you are totally fucking things up for the rest of us who just want to live our lives..
You are all a BUNCH OF BULLIES!!!
And yes, bullies get their way for a long time.. Until someone steps up and gives them a bloody nose..
I for one wont stand in the way of what you want to belive..
But I will stand in your way if you try to make me belive in some evil fucking cult!!!
ALL religion is a cult!!! All of it!!! I dont care if you think you are doing good.. YOu are not.. YOU are only hurting us all!

Not all of it. The core of it is a fine thing. The fringes tend to be nasty.
Gotta wipe that shit off to find the fine thing.

Okay give me one nut ball religions that isnt a cult?
And please tell me how you think the core is fine??

There isn't a single moral teaching that religion gives instruction on that can't be taught secularly.
I have issues with the whole invisible friend thing and all the magical thinking of religion. We're a technologically advanced civilization; religion doesn't have a place in it anymore.

At the core of it, all religions (at least the major ones) have a very simple concept -- to do good, to be good, and to say good (kinda like a condensed version of Zoroastrianism).
It's the fringes, the add-ons and the patches to the core of religion(s) that compels some individuals to be nasty. They're not seeing the core of it. Because it's hard to actually practice the core. Easier to practice the fringe elements.
If there were no religion, people would just look for some other thing to hate. So I think it's short-sighted and convenient to just simply blame religion.

See thats a problem.. To many people confuse being a good person with religion.. Its 2 totally different things!!!
I live my life by this so called core.. Yet it has nothing to do with my religion.. It has to do with having comman sense..
Those fringes use that aginst us all! And claim if you are not devoted to GOD. You can not be a good person..
Thats the biggest load of crap I have had to hear..
You should seperate the two.. Being good has nothing to to do with GOD or religion..
Religion is based off WAR.. Telling others what they need to belive, and do in their lives..
I dont confuse the two.. And more people should understand you can be a good person, without supporting the power base of religion! its maddness! and its a sickness that infects most all good hearted souls..
I can agree with one thing.. Alot of hate in this world.. And it doesnt all stem from religion.. Sure if it wasnt around IM sure people would hate my socks, or fuck those damn raccoons!
But I think we can all agree that religion has some major flaws, and creates a mind set to where people think they can only be good if they follow the "good" God!

Sure you can be good without needing to believe in God. What a belief in God gives people is a reason to actually be good. A reason for being. Some sense of purpose, if you will. Something to tell them that it was not all in vain, that it had a meaning.
I dont confuse the two.. And more people should understand you can be a good person, without supporting the power base of religion! its maddness! and its a sickness that infects most all good hearted souls..
A lot of religious people confuse supporting their religious leaders with actually supporting their religion. Can't really blame them. People tend to follow their leaders. In a non-religious context, people also confuse supporting their nation's leader with supporting their nation. People also tend to follow other people around them.

Common sense isn't so common. People need some sort of guidance. Religion can provide that. But often times people miss the point of the religion, the core I speak of. And usually, but not always, it's some power-hungry individual who misleads them. In cases where it's not someone else misleading them, it's their own prejudices that do.

Brainwash from the get go huh? People have been so embedded into thinking this way.. Thats why I use the term sick!
We have chatted before, and I think you are one of the few people I wouldnt lash out aginst on here.. I dont think you are one of these christians I am looking to bunt heads with..
First off you seem to know what IM saying.. Yet you are saying that most people need a God to justify being a good person?
Thats such BS.. I mean thats human sheep from the get go..
You are told thats the way it is, thus its going to be this way forever? I think not.. People are starting to open their eyes to this Bullshit..
General pointed out a good point, about magical friends, and stories that have no place in our world..
If you need to belive in some magical pony to be a good person, then maybe more is lost than I thought. And then I have to question why am I even trying trying to spread the word out..
When people will only see it their way and no other way..
They will slip and slide out of the base issue.. Those of you who support these wackos are to blame! NOT them.. They could be taken off that stage with your words.. BUT no they rather leave this sickos in place..
Well in the end, all it does is tarnish the good name of what ever GOd may or not be..
All it does is make people who find comman sense an easy thing to see, do a Face palmm..
Honestly my palm is hitting my forehead right now..
I can see therw it.. Why is it, that 1000's of people across our country bow down to people like Pat Roberson..
When he is NO FRINGE.. HE is main stream.. And pushes the Phelps agenda to a point..
Pat is clever.. And knows how to play.. But dont mistake Being clever for wisdom..
The church is very clever.. And its members are clever..
You might even be able to out debate me on this issue..
BUT you will never have my wisdom at the end of the day to know what I am dealing with.. I see it all to clearly.. And people have been killed, murdered, raped, maimed..
And its still not enough...
ITs going to take most people all their lives, and still never figure it out..
And I cant even sit here and say all religion is wrong.. BUT its sertinly flawed.. And breeds hate!!
IT fuels wars... its fuels people misunderstanding..
YOU dont need a GOD to be good.. Yet your point is that some people NEED a God to help them..
THATS bullshit.. More bullshit.. And IM sure you have a truck load more bullshit to throw at me huh?

Yet you are saying that most people need a God to justify being a good person?
[..]
Yet your point is that some people NEED a God to help them..
My point is that some people need to justify their meaning for living or doing good. That's where a belief in God comes in. Whether it's true or not, it doesn't matter. That's how it is for some. For others they need a reason to justify the "ultimate question" so to speak. You know what I'm talking about, the one to which the answer according to Douglas Adams is 42.
As for the 'magical friend' MM pointed out... I don't subscribe to that belief. In fact my belief explicitly states that I shouldn't be thinking too long and hard about the physical form of this God entity -- it would cause too much confusion/problems. When I think about it, that sort of makes sense. Better to just think of the 'concept' of God, rather than the 'form' of God.
And what is my personal concept of God? The Creator. That's it. Not born, not giving birth to and not created.
Anyway. Just putting this out there. I didn't come here to argue. Just wanted to state what I think so that you or whoever may understand where I am coming from. I didn't realize this was a trap...

Our perspectives may be very different, BK.
In this country, the religious right is a danger to personal liberty, free thought, and scientific advancement.
Our nation is so rich, and so advanced, you'd think that the religions would be mellow and touchy-feely, but that is not the norm. The norm is Ken Copeland, Kent Hovind, and believe it or not, Fred Phelps. His ideology is taught in many churches in the US, most of them just don't go out and get in everyone's faces the way his branch does.
Try this link for what "normal christians" in our country think:
http://www.positiveatheism.org/hist/quotes/revpat.htm
And you might understand why zysin and I feel the way we do about them.

Interesting link. If that Pat Robertson were to say those things in my country, he would be locked up under the Internal Security Act or the Sedition Act for incitement to public violence. Draconian, you might say, but very much necessary to prevent a repeat of the May 13th Race Riots.

Yes thanks for those links! Very helpful to those who cant understand the level of my pain, and anger!
BK, I understand where you are comming from and see you have a golden heart.. And are only trying to make sense of a flawed system. Also please know this is no trap for my friends like you.
But yes it could be a trap for those who think they can honestly debate this isse with a clear mind..
Its a one sided agurement, becasue its clear that people like Pat Rob. Do not spread the word of love, but rather the words of HATE.
So no worries my friend, it was a honor talking about this with you:)
But its these very things that give them the power to keep going..
Thats why I do not firmly belive in black and white, good and evil.
Much evil has been done in the name of good.. And much good has been done in the name of evil.
Its something that tends to repeat itself here in the states.. Everyone thinking that God is going to save their souls.. Or jesus or whatever you belive.. Most people miss the idea that its up to you to save yourself. Any being such as God loves all.. Any being such as "satan" aka evil hates all..
So its easy to see who spreads the hate, and who spreads the love.
You can say I spread love all day long for my church..
I could say Im a woman too.. But does that make me a woman..
I think not.

Neither do I.
"Most people miss the idea that its up to you to save yourself"
No kidding. For the record, my religion also states the same thing.
Also, for the record, there isn't a centralised point of authority in my religion. So there technically shouldn't be a power base for those seeking power. Unfortunately they've figured out a way around it. Heck, they figured it out the day the person who brought the religion into the world died. The power struggle that ensued caused the followers of the religion to split into two.
They're still fighting today, completely missing the point. Sigh...

Also please know this is no trap for my friends like you.
But yes it could be a trap for those who think they can honestly debate this isse with a clear mind. In favor of these people in charge.. NO one to this day has been able to give me a straight answer..
Its a one sided agurement, becasue its clear that people like Pat Rob. Do not spread the word of love, but rather the words of HATE.

I was sitting here thinking about the Phelps family.. and how people say to ignore those folks, they dont speak for the Mainstream churches... Yet they do..
People want you to ignore them because they are honestly putting it out there for all to see just how fucked up the church and bible really is!!
Look at it this way.. I wouldnt give them any attention.. But it sure is damn good to know, that the bible can be expressed in such a hateful, biggotry manner..
Shows me the score here.. And people like Pat tell Fred Phelps to shut up!!! YOu are really screwing things up here..
Dont worry Fred we will get to killing off those FAGS for you..
Yep hateful word, and I honestly hate the word fag.. But it serves a good purpose when explaining these thigns..
I might F this and F that.. But rarely will I ever say that F word.. Makes me sick to hear people call gays fags..
When I hear it, I think of Fred Phelps, and ask them if they are part of the cult.. And half the ignorant fools that use that word, dont know who Phelps are..
the Phelps family is the dirt under the rug of all churches..
And as I explained it a bit before.. Most Mainstream churches are clever.. And word things to be less hurtful..
When over all the main message is all the same..
Its just processed in a candy coating.. For more people to enjoy.
When at the end of the Day I thank Fred Phelps for being the only honest SOB in the whole church!
Churches can jump up and down all day long saying they love, and spread the word of God in a postive light..
I could jump up and down all day long saying Im a little tea pot!
But does that make me a tea pot? think about it..

Easier to spread hate. If you have the time, read this:
Why We Hate You: The Passions of National Identity and Ethnic Violence (http://socrates.berkeley.edu/~bsp/publications/2004_01-suny.pdf) (PDF)
Very good paper. Applies to religious identity as well (when it becomes a political tool).
