The Business of Slavery "Guilt" -- Fuck Reparations

Being the Penn & Teller junkie that I am, I happened to catch the "Reparations" episode the other night and thus, this thread was born.


For as long as I can remember, I have said that the bullshit talk of reparations and racism by such "needy" black folks as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton is NOTHING but politicking and "business as usual" (aka extortion).

While I certainly despise the premise of slavery and the horrors that were done to many as a result, stating that reparations are due to some 5th or 6th generation POSSIBLE descendant of a slave is fucking ludicrous!

For one, I personally feel that "reparations" are IMPOSSIBLE to pay once the human being in question (and his immediate loved ones) passes away.

Two; In what way does FINANCIAL GAIN make the injustice the black slaves faced RIGHT for their present day ancestors? If anything, trying to profit off the suffering of previous generations is a fucking DISGRACE to their memory. Any monies paid are blood money and nothing more.

I swear, this whole premise makes me fucking SICK!

IF there is ANY group in the United States who MIGHT deserve some reparations, it's the American Indians. "Why?", you might ask. Well, because the injustices their ancestors suffered are still being witnessed to this very day. As Chris Rock said, "When was the last time you saw 2 Indians??"

While I'm on this little spiel, I don't want you thinking I'm only talking about the blacks of the United States. Nope, I'm talking to you holocaust profiteering Jews as well.

You absolutely CANNOT honor the memory of those who suffered in the past by profiting off of their suffering in the present.

To attempt to do so is a fucking disgrace to their memory and downright pathetic!

So, from your loving owner/administrator here at AmKon.net, let me say FUCK YOU to all of you dirty whores who seek to profit off of the suffering of those that came before you. You fucking disgust me.

ya know, recently us Aussies said "sorry" to the aborigine's and indigenous aussies for the "stolen generations" as they are known here.

i thought it was a bloody good thing, to admit our wrong doings and apologise for them.

but what happens? 2 days later.. 2 fucking DAYS!!! after we say sorry and some guy in victoria is already suing the govt for these acts.

although the "stolen generations" did happen up until 69', so there is some of them still alive.


but sheesh, theyve been calling for us to say sorry for decades and when the Rudd Govt is the only one with the kajone's to say it what happens? they instantly start to turn around and hold out their hand.

if anything, i'd say any compo payouts should go to the dept of aboriginal affairs and other indigenous groups to go back into improving all indigenous communities, not just into some guys pocket so he can sniff more petrol + drink more piss for the rest of his life. :evil:

its a fucking disgrace that some instantly turn around with their hand out for cash, instead of offering a hand of forgiveness for our apology.

the slaves were freed like 140+ years ago.....i see nothing to apologize for. nobody alive had anything to do with it....none of us owned slaves and none of us were slaves.

the first slave owner was a former black indentured servent any damn way...

if they get reperations then i want some for how the irish were treated when we got here.

I agree about reparations, however, I do think we have to work harder to assure that all citizens are treated equally and fairly.

Reparations reminds me of the Unitarian Universalist Annual meeting in Toronto in the mid '70s. They had a resolution that Canada and the United States make immediate and complete reparations to all native americans. There were three microphones, pro, questions, and con. The argument went on for quite a while so I finally got up and went to the middle mike. They called on me and I said, "I don't have a position on this, but I was curious. As a part Iroquois, where are the rest of you going to go when you give the countries back to us?"

Funny how quickly the resolution died.

I saw that P&T episode, and I couldn't agree more. The only people I can see the US giving any reparations to are survivors of the Japanese internment camps of WWII.

None of my white ancestors (that I know of) were slave owners, and not one of the blacks I know now is any closer to slavery than four generations. So what is the point?
