edit*
there are about 25 fish in there now and i am going to add about 25 more. just community fish and i have a magnum 350 filter so that is no problem. my main cichlid tank is in the front room.

as soon as the sun sets and my water looks clear again i will get a clip of that. the light comes in through the green shears and makes the water look like piss even though it is crystal clear

Fish are relaxing, but I've never had enough space to realy get into them. I always thought having a big tank, like yours, would be very soothing and fun to maintain.

thats gonna be a nano tank at 29 gallons. should be real easy to maintain once you get it going. i am still thinking about buying a 12 gallon nano tank.
you should get about 15 lbs of live rock in there and then stick a few small fish in there. maybe a manderin and some sea horses or something.
manderins are sweet.

TPM, quick question about fish. Do fish have personalities?

TPM, quick question about fish. Do fish have personalities?

absolutely they do.
my fish will come to the front of the tank to 'beg' for food.

the little community fish like tetras and plattys don't but cichlid and marine fish absolutely do have personalities.....

i used to have a fish that i would put the food on the spoon and hold the spoon over the water. he would come up out of the water just a tad to knock the spoon and the food would fall in the water.....no shit man

it's awesome man...get a nice sized tank like a 55 or a 75 and put cichlids in there. they are a blast.
they have babies and they guard them. male will protect the female...female will hold the fry in her mouth and spit them out to eat, then take them back in her mouth to protect them..

they dig and make little caves and shit....

i have been into fish keeping my entire adult life. there have not been many times that i did not have at least one tank up. i have two going now. i had four before i moved here.

gonna try to build a 300 gallon tank in the basement.

i plan to put a pair of parachromis dovii in there. they are the largest, meanest mofo's of the new world cichlids...they will wreck all the other fish.

check em out

That thing is the size of my head! How big will they grow? I know that those Oscar fish will keep growing till they die, or so I've heard.

thats just a myth.
the dovii will hit about 15-18 inches in the tank. in the wild maybe 24 inches...

oscars hit about 15 inches if they are well maintained....they are very suceptable to a disease called hole in the head. it's pretty nasty and a lot of oscars wind up with it...bad food. bad water quality, etc...

no fish will grow till it dies although some get fuckin big.

pacu's hit about 30 inches in a home tank

here is a pacu

people get duped all the time cause stores sell them as red belly pirahna and they're not...they're in the family but they are herbovores

My dad had lots of fish tanks when I was in high school. Our oscars were so cool! They'd beg for goldfish, it was like watching dogs beg for treats.

I got rid of my hermit crabs because tank maintenance was too much trouble at this point in time. Fish must be even more labor intensive.

Just bought some live rock today. I also bought some sand that was already cycled. So hopefully I can get things moving faster soon.
